After checking my skills and traits, I turned my gaze to the three magic scrolls in my hand.

It’s similar to [Rank Up] in that it has ‘UP’ written in large letters, but this one has a ‘?’ floating in the background.

▷Increases the rank of the specified skill/trait with a certain probability.

[Random Rank Up]*3

▷Random rank up is not affected by probability-related bonuses.

▷Randomly designates one skill/trait you have.

It’s not an item that appears often on prize lists, so I grabbed it quickly, but if you look closely, you’ll find that there are some surprisingly tricky conditions attached.

First, skills/traits are assigned randomly.

The copied ones are not applicable in the first place, and one of the ones I have completely learned is designated.

It’s similar to [Rank Up] in that it has ‘UP’ written in large letters, but this one has a ‘?’ floating in the background.

[Random Rank Up]*3

▷Randomly designates one skill/trait you have.

▷Increases the rank of the specified skill/trait with a certain probability.

▷Random rank up is not affected by probability-related bonuses.

It’s not an item that appears often on prize lists, so I grabbed it quickly, but if you look closely, you’ll find that there are some surprisingly tricky conditions attached.

Among these, it is ideal to choose [Amplification] or [Monarch], which are relatively difficult to grow, rather than [Windforce] or [Twister], which can be grown eventually with consistent effort.

‘Anything that goes up is a blessing.’

But even that is not easy because of the second condition.

The fact that the rank of a randomly assigned skill/trait is increased with a ‘certain probability’.

And this ‘certain probability’ decreases rapidly and inversely as the rank increases.

For example, if the probability of upgrading an F-class skill to an E-class skill is 100%, the probability of upgrading a B-class skill to an A-class skill is infinitely close to 0.

Instead of skipping the time, effort, and know-how that goes into leveling up by just using items, you have to win the battle against probability.

Thirdly and finally, there is the condition that you cannot receive the luck bonus.

It means that whether the lucky calligrapher or I try, the results are similar.

In summary,

‘There’s a pretty good chance that all three will blow up.’

My previous best record was 30 consecutive failed random rank-ups.

So I expect that chapter 3 or so will be deleted in the blink of an eye.

So I relaxed my mind.

‘I didn’t get anything from Game Center… … .’

No possessions.

If you don’t have any expectations in the first place, you won’t be betrayed.

Like an old monk ready to ascend, I used [Random Rank Up] while putting everything down.

– Flash!

The scroll began to glow with an increasingly intense glow,

– Push push… … .

The light dimmed in an instant and turned into a pile of ash, scattering away.

[Rank up failed.]

‘Yeah, that’s right.’

I immediately used the next random rank up.

Second attempt.

– Push push… … .

[Rank up failed.]

‘Yeah, I didn’t expect that.’

Move on to the next step without any problem.

3rd attempt.

– Flash!

‘Yeah, of course I’m looking forward to it—’

– Paaaaat—!

The light streaming from the parchment was absorbed by my body, and a notification message was printed.

[You have successfully ranked up!]

[‘Inferno Fist’ rank increases. C->B]

‘Do you know ? It’s really a great game.’

I can’t stop randomly ranking up because of this taste.

[Inferno Fist] is a forbidden skill and its power is so extreme that it has many restrictions on training.

To raise your rank, you have to go through a lot of hardships by going through special dungeons.

So rather than going through all that trouble, I decided to hold out for a while at C rank and then look into other skills.

‘It’s a different story if you’re promoted to B-rank.’

Luckily, the shelf life has been greatly extended, so it will still be useful until late second year or early third year.

The result was quite satisfactory.

Monday morning.

[Kim Ho: (fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Calligrapher:??]

[Kim Ho: (fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Calligrapher:!!]

[Calligrapher: (Fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Kim Ho: (fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Kim Ho: (fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Calligrapher: (Fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Calligrapher: (Fluffy cloud emoticon)]

[Kim Ho: Want some food?]

[Calligrapher: ㅇㅇ]

On the way to school after having breakfast with the calligrapher.

An Jeong-mi’s appearance is not visible.

On the way to school, he usually hides somewhere and guards the calligrapher, but today, there was no sign of him at all.

So I asked the calligrapher.

“What about the butler?”

“I heard he’s not feeling well.”

“How’s your condition? How’s it going?”

The calligrapher shook his head repeatedly.

It means that you don’t know either.

As I was looking at that scene, something suddenly occurred to me, so I asked a slightly different question.

“What happened to the spicy pizza bread? I bought it as a gift.”

“I ate it all.”

“The butler?”

“huh.”

You ate all of that?

I feel like my condition is getting worse just listening to it, but is Ahn Jung-mi surprisingly good at spicy food?

“So when did your condition start to worsen?”

“After eating bread.”

That can’t be happening.

The calligrapher must have forced himself to eat something he couldn’t eat because he bought it as a gift.

It is almost certain that the cause of the poor condition is the Hellfire Pizza Bread.

“Next time, let’s give something less spicy as a gift.”

“… … .”

“Something less spicy.”

“okay.”

After emphasizing it twice, only then did the calligrapher slowly shake his head up and down.

I prayed in my heart for An Jeong-mi’s speedy recovery.

I hope this week’s mentoring went smoothly.

As I was almost at school, I saw Go Hyun-woo walking towards the training center.

It seems like he spent the night in the special performance room again today.

He spots us and approaches us with quickened steps.

“Good morning, Brother Kim. And you too, So-Jeong Seo.”

“Uh. Good morning.”

I greeted him and the calligrapher waved his hand gently.

But then, at that moment, Go Hyun-woo flinched and narrowed his eyes.

“hmm?”

The gaze lingers for a moment on the calligrapher’s waving hand, or more precisely, on the cloud bracelet on her wrist.

Then I found the dark cloud bracelet on my wrist,

“Hmm.”

I look down and see the sneakers and walking shoes the calligrapher is wearing, and then I see the walking shoes I am wearing.

And then, a satisfied fatherly smile gradually spread across his lips.

“It is a good thing… … .”

“What are you thinking?”

“It’s nothing special. I just really like the way you two look. But you’re wearing a bracelet I’ve never seen before.”

Then, unusually, the calligrapher answered.

“I went to the downtown area and came back.”

“Oh, you mean the downtown area? I’ve heard that there are a lot of interesting things there. What do you think? I’ll go and check it out myself.”

“It was fun.”

Go Hyun-woo’s eyebrows slightly rose because the calligrapher’s answer came out right away.

Soon, he looks at us with an even happier fatherly smile.

“Indeed, when Lady Seo says it like that, I am even more interested. If I get the chance, I would like to go to that bustling place myself. I don’t know when that will be, though, since training always comes first.”

He is a living training machine, Ko Hyun-woo, who trains day and night.

I want to play, but I feel it is a waste to miss out on a day of practice time by going out to the city.

I said.

“I think it’ll be okay for a day or so. And we didn’t just play around. We had a chance encounter and got a bracelet.”

Actually, the lucky trump card was won by the calligrapher, but it is true that he got it anyway.

After hearing what I said, Go Hyun-woo’s eyes changed slightly.

“I see, that’s what happens. I guess I thought too briefly when I first heard the word ‘commercial district.’ If that’s the case, then it’s worth spending some time on.”

“Catch me later and let’s go out together.”

“Okay, let’s do that.”

Go Hyun-woo changed his attitude as if he had turned over his hand.

He was a living training machine, a typical unmanned being whose eyes would roll over at the mere mention of the word chance.

Interpersonal class.

Today, the pressure at Isu Island seemed several times lower than usual.

A murderous attitude that makes it seem like anyone who gets in the way will have their balls twisted off.

Because the killing intent was so evident, the students did not dare to look the other way and focused their attention on Lee Soo-dok.

In this atmosphere that felt like walking on thin ice, Lee Soo-dok blurted out a word.

“Midterm exam.”

“… … !?”

Question marks and exclamation marks appeared simultaneously above the students’ heads.

Because of the atmosphere, they don’t dare to gossip, and they just roll their eyes to express their opinions.

– It’s a midterm?

– Did you just say it was a midterm?

– Did I mishear that?

– It must be different, right?

Everyone seemed to want to deny what they had just heard, but Lee Soo-dok put a stop to it as if it was impossible.

“In two weeks, starting from the 9th week, it will be the midterm exam period. The exam will cover everything you have learned since entering this Yongsal Academy, including interpersonal battles and strategy battles.”

Lee Soo-dok’s tone gradually became lower and slower, and he looked over Class 3 with an even more murderous gaze.

“I heard that there are quite a few students who just take the class half-heartedly because they want to get good grades on the practical exams… … .”

I guess you heard something from other teachers.

I guess that’s why there’s low pressure today.

Under Lee Soo-dok’s gaze, some students looked down in embarrassment.

Among them was Song Cheon-hye. Although she was an honor student and focused on class, she sometimes dozed off because she was tired from the work of the leadership team.

Especially in the case of Mrs. Cho Ok-soon’s monster ecology, there were actually fewer cases of people being awake.

Lee Soo-dok continued speaking with an ominous smile.

“… … Those who skipped class like that can look forward to this midterm. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

“… … !”

There was tension on the students’ faces.

Even though I don’t know exactly what that means, I was sure I would be frantically searching for what I missed in the previous classes.

After dropping a meaningful hint, Lee Soo-dok immediately moved on to the next topic.

“Now I’ll explain the rules for this week’s interpersonal battle. Of course, this is also included in the midterm exam.”

MAP:[random]

RULE:[Crystal]

Isudok takes out a device that looks like a camera tripod from his inventory, and a crystal the size of a fist.

First, I roughly threw the device away, and it landed a short distance away and installed itself.

It was like a makeshift structure that soon began to emit a bright light.

“One of the key elements of this battle is the ‘Sanctuary’. When you enter the arena, it will look different, but it will be easy to recognize.”

If it were anything like that makeshift structure, it would be shining brightly wherever it was.

Next, Lee Soo-dok showed off his crystal.

There’s nothing particularly special about it other than the fact that it’s big.

But when Isudok approached the sanctuary with it,

– Wheein—

The sanctuary and the crystal were connected by a white beam of light, and the crystal began to gradually become filled with light.

As Lee Soo-dok took a few steps back and increased the distance between them, the connection was cut off, and the light the crystal was holding quickly died down.

Lee Soo-dok approached again and continued his explanation while connecting the sanctuary and the crystal with a beam of light.

“As you can see, this crystal charges little by little when it is kept at a certain distance from the sanctuary. Conversely, it discharges quickly when it leaves that distance. And,”

– Paaaaat!

The crystal glowed with an exceptionally white glow, as if sufficient light had accumulated in it.

It was almost as if it were a ball of light rather than a crystal.

“This is what happens when the charge is fully completed. In other words, the goal of this battle is as follows.”

The side holding the crystal must charge the crystal by maintaining a certain distance from the sanctuary while blocking or avoiding the opponent’s attacks.

On the other hand, the other side’s goal is naturally to stop it.

If you defeat an enemy, steal their crystal, or force them to move away from the Sanctuary, the charge will run out.

I nodded my head and thought.

‘That’s my favorite.’
