When adventurers form a party, the most important thing is position. Who will play what role?
Such positions were broadly divided into three categories.
Tank, dealer and support.
The most unique position among these was the supporter.
Originally, supporters were largely wizards.
Among wizards, it refers to those with the talent to use support magic, that is, healing or recovery magic.

당연히 범죄자들도 모였고, 그만큼 다른 어느 슬럼가들보다 치안이나 질이 좋지 않았다.
어지간한 모험가들조차 쉽사리 발을 들여놓지 못할 정도.
“위험할 수도 있지.”
물론 엘 팜에게는 의미 없는 위험이었다.
엘 팜, 그는 이미 3서클이 된바.
하물며 엘 팜은 자신했다. 몬스터를 사냥하는 것보다 모험가를 사냥하는 게 더 쉽다는 것을.
“문제 일으키려고 가는 건 아니니까 너무 걱정 말도록.”

파티의 목숨을 책임지는 자들.
그런데 그런 중요한 자리에 범죄자를 집어넣는다?
엘 팜 역시 디보의 그 걱정을 알기에 말했다.
“범죄자는 아니다.”

“단지 돈을 좋아할 뿐.”

그 말에 엘 팜을 따라다니느라 적잖게 고생을 한 디보가 반색하며 말했다.
“누굽니까?”

엘 팜의 말에 고개를 돌리는 디보는 고개를 갸웃했다.
“저기요? 저쪽에는 덩치가 무식하게 크고 무서운 얼굴을 하고 있는 곰 같은 인간밖에 없는데요?”
“그다.”
“예?”
“저 사람이다.”
“아니, 그러니까 저 곰도 맨손으로 때려잡을 것 같은 인간이 비숍이라고요. 누가 보더라도 전사 같은데요?”
도무지 믿을 수 없다는 반응을 보이는 디보.
“잘못 보신 거 아니에요?”
거듭된 디보의 질문에 엘 팜은 대답하지 않았다.
할 이유가 없었다.
“확실하다.”
다른 누구는 몰라도 엘 팜은 랄프, 그를 잘 알 수밖에 없었으니까.
‘놈이 내 동료 전부를 죽였던 순간은 잊을 수 없으니까.’
그 순간 엘 팜의 머릿속에는 그날의 기억이 떠올랐다.

미스틱 게이트에서 몬스터가 뛰쳐나오기 시작하는 순간, 세상은 지옥이 되어버렸다.
모두가 몬스터의 등장에 절망했다.
그래서 세상은 몰랐다.
그 혼란을 틈타 검은 마법사의 추종자들이 본격적으로 움직이기 시작한 것을.
그래서 검은 마법사의 추종자들은 말도 안 될 만큼 메이플 월드에 치명적인 타격을 줬다.
그중 가장 대표적인 게 바로 시그너스 기사단의 심장이라고 할 수 있었던 기사단장 미하일의 죽음이었다.
검은 마법사를 추종하는 모험가들의 모임, 일명 블랙 파라다이스가 시그너스 기사단의 기사단장인 미하일을 죽였다.
그 이후에도 블랙 파라다이스는 메이플 월드를 떠돌며 무수히 많은 모험가들을 사냥했다.
엘 팜의 파티도 그중 하나였다.
사실 그건 사냥이라고 할 수도 없었다.
일방적인 학살.
살아남은 건 오직 한 명, 엘 팜뿐.
그날 이후 엘 팜이 죽어간 동료들의 복수에 성공한 것은 무려 4년이 흐른 후였다.
그때 엘 팜은 블랙 파라다이스에 속했던 모든 모험가들을, 검은 마법사를 추종한 모험가들을 사냥했다.
그러한 사냥의 끝에 마지막으로 마주한 게 바로 비숍 랄프였다.
블랙 파라다이스의 핵심 멤버 중 한 명이었던 그는 끝까지 살아남았고, 그래서 엘 팜은 들을 수 있었다.
“어째서 검은 마법사를 추종했냐고? 이유가 별거 있겠어?”
랄프, 그가 검은 마법사를 추종했던 이유를.
“그가 가장 많은 돈을 준다고 했을 뿐이야.”
가소로운 이유였다.
그리고 그 가소로운 이유가 엘 팜을 이곳에 오게 했다.
“랄프 맞지?”
“맞소만?”
“제안을 하겠다. 내 파티에 가입해 줬으면 한다.”
엘 팜, 그가 랄프에게 파티 제안을 했다.
이해하기 쉬운 건 아니었다.
엘 팜과 랄프는 악연이었다. 그것도 지독하기 그지없는 악연이었다.
랄프가 속했던 블랙 파라다이스는 엘 팜의 동료들 전부를 죽였었고, 엘 팜은 그들의 복수를 완성했었다.
서로 죽고 죽이는 투쟁을 했다.
심지어 랄프는 검은 마법사의 추종자였다.
그럼에도 불구하고 엘 팜이 랄프에게 이런 제안을 하는 이유는 두 가지 때문이었다.
하나는 랄프가 매우 뛰어난 서포터라는 것.
‘그가 아니었으면 블랙 파라다이스가 미하일을 죽이는 건 절대 불가능했을 거다.’
그것도 그냥 뛰어난 정도가 아니라 그 위대한 시그너스 기사단의 기사단장을 죽였다.
실력은 의심할 여지가 없었다.
남은 건 인성.
“갑자기 찾아와서 이런 소리를 하는 걸 보니까 정상은 아닌 거 같은데, 어디 아픈 건 아니오?”
좋을 리는 없다.
그러나 딱히 좋든 말든 그건 아무래도 좋았다.
엘 팜은 무수히 많이 봤다.
몬스터가 넘치고 검은 마법사의 추종자들이 활개 치는 세상 속에서 살아남는 데 인성 같은 건 아무래도 상관없다는 것을.

최후의 모험가 엘 팜, 그가 그 거룩하고 갸륵한 타이틀을 얻은 건 인성이 좋아서가 아니었다.

디보도 마찬가지였다.
