Chapter 24 – Settlement
Uther remembered his first meeting with Cordelia.
Before each of them were reincarnated as Uder and Cordelia, back when they were still Outboxer 009 and Yellow Storm.
It’s been 22 years since we lived as Uther and Cordelia, but it felt like only 5 years ago.
Outboxer 009 – Im Jin-ho started a game.
In fact, Im Jin-ho had lived a life quite far removed from games. It was nothing more than a coincidence that he suddenly started playing games, especially RPGs that even had VR functions.
But maybe you could call it beginner’s luck.
Fortunately, Hero Chronicles 2 was a game that was just to Im Jin-ho’s and Yuder’s liking.
‘That’s funny. So this is why people play games.’
Heroes Chronicle 2 had two modes: single player and multiplayer.
Single player was literally a format where you would clear the story alone, and multiplayer was a format where users who had seen the single player ending once would gather together and go on an adventure, no matter what kind of ending it was.
‘To become strong in multiplayer, you have to beat all the characters in single player, and with high scores? That’s a lot of work to do?’
In multiplayer, there was something called a ‘deck system’.
It was a system that strengthened the abilities of multiplayer characters by combining the abilities of each playable character raised in single player.
In simple terms, this meant that a character from a user who cleared both Uther and Cordelia was stronger in multiplayer than a character from a user who cleared only Uther in single.
There is also a scoring system here, so the multiplayer character of a user who cleared the level with 120 points was stronger than that of a user who cleared the level with 100 points.
‘In short, you want me to beat all the single characters with the highest score?’
Since it was a system that openly emphasized hard work, I was interested in it, but I had no intention of actually trying it.
It’s not like I really had any intention of competing in multiplayer.
‘Let’s take a look anyway.’
The bad ending is also an ending. After seeing the ending where you die after being swept up in the invasion of the northern barbarians, you are granted access to multiplayer.
‘Okay, if you enter your nickname······.’
I entered the multiplayer under the name Outboxer009.
At first glance, it didn’t seem to be much different from single player, but there were two very big differences.
One was the fact that there were other players in the Pleiades besides Uther himself, and the other was the fact that the game’s combat difficulty had increased dramatically.
[You are dead.]
Not long after leaving the village, Yuder died screaming and his body was left sprawled on the ground.
‘So that’s why you told me to break the single and come in.’
First of all, the specs and controls had to be above a certain level.
After coming to his senses, Uder waited for a moment before pressing the reset button.
That’s because there was a user approaching him from over there.
‘Oh… Are you trying to help me?’
Because you can revive someone who has just died by using the Resurrection Feather given when you start multiplayer.
At that time, Uder was still a beginner in gaming, and thus did not know how gamers approached multiplayer games.
That’s why he waited for users to approach him with a pure heart.
‘pretty.’
Are you sure that character’s name was Cordelia?
A beautiful girl with impressive red hair.
The Cordelia user came right up to him and stared at the corpse of Uder’s face, and Uder looked at the Cordelia user with expectant eyes.
And Cordelia User said:
[Yellow Storm: LOL, the mother of games]
‘what?’
A bewildered Yuder blinked, but the body was still a corpse.
The Cordelia user laughed a few more times before passing Yuder and going his own way.
A few seconds, a few minutes like that.
Hahaha the game is so stupid
The mother of games.
You’re terrible at games.
It’s nothing special.
Words that can be just ignored.
But strangely, no, mysteriously, those words struck Yuder’s mind.
It got stuck in my head and didn’t go away.
And, of course, the user who said that was also clearly stored in Uder’s memory.
‘Yellow Storm.’
Uther remembers, Cordelia doesn’t.
It was the first meeting between the two.
&
“Hey! Get it done quickly!”
“uh?”
“hurry!”
Immediately after defeating Madga.
Cordelia, who was smiling while looking at the essence of the blue moon, suddenly pressed him, and Uther was slightly flustered.
“The essence of the blue moon?”
“The essence of the blue moon! What if the gentle snow wind takes it away? Take it quickly! No, just absorb it! Okay? Quickly!”
Didn’t the gentle snow wind clearly say that?
The essence of the blue moon is so important that even the animals around it do not touch it.
He said that he decided to use it because it was an emergency situation.
“Just tell them that the strength was sucked out of you when you touched it. Yeah, that would be good. I’ll help you make an excuse.”
Cordelia, who had said that, quickly picked up the blue moon essence from the ground and placed it firmly in Uther’s hand.
The essence of the blue moon was the essence of pure moonlight, and was a culmination of sacred power.
Because Cordelia used the witch’s power, it was an item that she couldn’t use properly anyway.
‘No, there’s Moonlight.’
Since the essence of the blue moon is moonlight, wouldn’t it be possible to absorb it into Moonlight?
“Hey, wait a minute. What about Moonlight? Couldn’t we absorb it?”
“Huh? Oh… As expected from our Yuder. That’s a plausible idea… No. Just eat it. That’ll be better than strengthening your equipment.”
“No, but the Moonlight you’re going to use······.”
“No, no. You eat it. You eat it and open the three doors. That’s much more profitable.”
These were two people who were doing something that would have been unimaginable in the past, giving items to each other.
And even while I was doing such incongruous things, time passed.
“What should I do? It’s coming.”
A gentle snow storm was blowing towards us.
Although he had a lovely smile on his face, to Cordelia he just looked like an evil face coming to steal her items.
“I’ll try to do something. Okay?”
“radish······.”
That was it.
Cordelia quickly covered Uther’s mouth, and a gentle snowstorm settled in front of Uther and Cordelia.
“We did it, guys! We did it!”
The gentle breeze laughed heartily, spread its arms wide, and shouted.
Instead of embracing the gentle snow wind, Cordelia spoke with a determined face.
“Good-looking wind!”
“yes?”
“Our Yuder is sick!”
“yes?!”
The beautiful snow wind looked back at Yuder in surprise, and Cordelia whispered silently while poking Yuder’s side hard.
‘Pretend to be sick! Pretend to be sick!’
What on earth is this?
But Uther made a difficult expression, trying to please Cordelia, and Cordelia continued speaking.
“Actually, Yuder was born with a constitution called Gu-eum-jeol-maek. Because of that, he was very weak since he was young. Just look at his thin arms······.”
Cordelia blinked, trying to emphasize Yuder’s slender wrists and arms, and Kounnunbaram tilted his head.
It had to be that way.
‘What the heck! When did you get so fit?!’
It wasn’t Yuder’s arm that was as flimsy as a reed stalk. It was strong and sturdy, like a club.
‘No, hey. Think about it. What level are we at?’
Cordelia swallowed her breath in vain at the protest from Uther’s eyes.
When I think about it, it was exactly as Yuder said.
Thanks to repeated leveling ups, the two people had already passed level 40.
It is estimated that the max level of Hero Chronicles 2 is over 300, but that was when facing off against the great demons, and it was a world where the average knight was usually around level 20.
Level 40 in the meantime.
As the level increased, physical abilities basically increased, and for Yuder, who was a non-manned character, the increase was greater than for Cordelia, who was a magician.
Here, by consistently exercising every day according to Landius’s teachings, my arms naturally became thicker.
‘Come to think of it, you’ve grown… too?’
As we were standing so close together, the height difference became apparent. Now, I had to raise my head to make eye contact with Yuder.
‘He’s not a teenager who’s in the growth spurt phase… No, he’s seventeen, so he’s in the growth spurt phase.’
“Cordelia?”
It was a gentle breeze.
Cordelia was startled and hesitated for a moment before continuing.
“No, that! Anyway! Even though Yuder looks fine on the outside, he’s actually a mess on the inside. That’s why he needs treatment!”
“A mess…?”
The gentle breeze looked at Uther again, and Cordelia narrowed her brows.
That’s because Yuder looked so strong.
Moreover, it was Kounnunbaram who had been watching Yuder’s great performance.
It seemed extremely difficult to convince Yuder, who had been running like a whirlwind, that he was actually sick.
But Cordelia didn’t give up.
“No, that! This is too much right now. If I lie down in a little while, I’ll vomit blood and roll around. It’s no joke.”
“Really?”
“Yes, that’s why I need treatment. I need a lot of good energy to treat it. Like the essence of the blue moon.”
Cordelia, who had said this, looked at the gentle snow wind with pounding eyes, and Uther covered his mouth with his hand and barely managed to hold back his laughter.
Cordelia’s ridiculous scam was a scam, but the way she worked so hard to commit the scam was incredibly cute.
Moreover, a smile naturally appeared on my face because I knew that the reason I was struggling so much was because of Yuder.
“Uh… So to sum it up… Uder is actually sick right now, and he needs the essence of the blue moon to cure him?”
“Yes, that’s right. That’s it.”
Cordelia looked at the gentle snow wind with a tense face.
In fact, Cordelia was a little abnormal right now.
This is because both reason and emotions were much simpler due to the influence of Beast Mode.
“Hmm, I see.”
The gentle wind looked back at Yuder, and Yuder obediently showed him the blue moon essence in his hand.
The gentle breeze nodded.
“Okay, since we can’t return the Blue Moon Essence to Moonrise Hill anyways, it would be better for someone who needs it to use it.”
“Huh? You can’t return it?”
“Yes, the connection between the Blue Moon Essence and Moonlight Hill has already been severed. It will take a long time, but we have no choice but to gather moonlight and dew to create the essence again. So······.”
Gounnunbaram, whose words were clouded for a moment, smiled warmly at Uder and Cordelia.
“I have seen the beautiful heart of Cordelia who thinks of her fiancé. I must repay you for saving me and my children, so I will give you the essence of the blue moon.”
“Wow, thank you.”
Cordelia bowed her head in greeting, then patted Uther on the chest and winked.
‘You see? What my sister did. If not me, then who will take care of you?’
Even though it was the essence of the blue moon that could not be returned anyway, it was still a treasure.
It was true that it went over to Uther because Cordelia stepped forward.
‘Okay, then should I step forward too?’
‘uh?’
Instead of answering with his eyes, Uder took a step forward.
“My dear Gounnunbaram, I have something to tell you.”
“Go ahead.”
“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude. Thank you so much for giving me the essence of the blue moon.”
“No, it is just the price to pay. If it weren’t for you and Cordelia, my children and I would still be wandering in crisis.”
The gentle snow breeze smiled warmly, and Cordelia blushed slightly, feeling embarrassed all over again.
But it wasn’t Yuder.
“I see. As Gounnunbaram said, it was thanks to Cordelia and I working together. No, in fact, it was Cordelia who did more. She worked harder and was more active than I did.”
Why is it suddenly like this?
Cordelia looked at Uther with wide eyes, and Gounnunbaram smiled innocently.
“I see. Thank you very much, Cordelia.”
“Yes, so shouldn’t Cordelia get a reward too?”
It was not Cordelia, but Uther who answered.
Because the essence of the blue moon was given to Uther himself, not Cordelia.
Because Cordelia hasn’t received her reward yet.
In fact, it was a bit too much to ask for compensation so directly.
But Yuder didn’t care.
For the sake of his fiancée who has done so much for him, so that she can commit a more sophisticated scam next time,
“My dear Gounnunbaram, in my opinion······.”
Uder began to tell the story.
The skilled assistant’s skills were demonstrated to two innocent girls – Cordelia and Gounnunbaram.
&
The cleanup is over.
After Madga’s death, most of the warriors of the Angry Horn tribe chose to flee, and as was always the case in battlefields past and present, they suffered heavy casualties while fleeing.
The beautiful eyes and clear eyes were not overworked.
After driving out all the Angry Horn tribe from the realm of the Fairy Wind, they shouted in victory, and Uther and Cordelia joined them.
And that night.
The gentle breeze that faced Uder and Cordelia narrowed its eyes slightly and asked.
“It’s nice to see you being affectionate, but… is that… okay?”
“Yes, it’s like a side effect of Beast Mode. It’ll be fine by tomorrow morning.”
Cordelia’s head was resting on Uther’s lap as he spoke with an awkward smile.
It was Cordelia, hanging on to Uther, lying down like a dog or a cat.
‘It’s probably closer to a dog or a cat.’
Cordelia, curled up tightly, occasionally licked Uther’s hand and purred as if she were a real cat. It was as if she wanted him to pet her instead of just sitting still.
“Um… You’ll be okay tomorrow morning?”
“Yes, I remember… I’ll probably be red in the face and not know what to do tomorrow morning.”
“Ahem, I see.”
The gentle breeze, which had been coughing, held out a small box.
“It’s the memory of the wind. It’s an item that meets the conditions you requested.”
“thank you.”
Inside the box was a green feather that looked very old.
‘The materials for the ancestral return are almost all gathered.’
Ancestral Reversion was a magic that allowed one to turn back time, and to do so, it required objects imbued with the power of the past.
The Wind’s Memory wasn’t originally an essential material, but as explained by Gounnunbaram, it was an object that contained the past like an ice stone, so it could be used sufficiently.
‘All that’s left is angel blood and special ink to use when drawing the magic circle.’
In the latter case, since all that was needed was to concentrate high-concentration magic power, there must have been a way to somehow obtain a substitute.
In other words, the story was that Cordelia’s return to her ancestors was possible if she could obtain the blood of Lena, the only angel currently existing on Earth.
‘The Archangel mode is just around the corner.’
Yuder, with a happy smile on his face, looked at the gentle snow wind again and spoke.
“Lord Gounnunbaram, as I said, I plan to establish an Eastern Alliance centered around the Great Storm Tribe. Would you like to join us?”
“We should work together. I plan to spread the word to the surrounding wild gods and tribes to help build the Eastern Alliance. I also plan to take measures to prevent the Dragon Vein from being harmed any longer.”
Compared to the rough avalanche, the great storm and fine snow wind could be considered as children, but if we only consider the strength they possess, they are ranked among the top among the wild gods.
If the two of them joined forces and called for the creation of an alliance, even the wild gods who had not yet been harmed would show interest in forming an alliance.
“Maybe… this time the Golden Dragon King will finally awaken.”
“The Golden Dragon King?”
It was the first time I heard the name Yuder.
Kounnunbaram looked at Cordelia, who had begun to doze off on Uther’s lap, with warm eyes and said.
“The Golden Dragon King is the first and strongest wild god. He is like a father to all the wild gods that inhabit the wild lands.”
‘In simple terms, is he the king of the wild gods?’
But the gentle breeze said that he might wake up.
In other words, the story was that he was asleep now.
“Long ago, when the great lords of Hell descended upon the earth… the Golden Dragon King fought fiercely against the great lords to protect the Wild Lands. Fortunately, the great lords were driven out of the Wild Lands, but the Dragon King himself was badly injured.”
“You fell asleep while receiving treatment.”
“Yes, it’s a story from nearly a thousand years ago.”
The great lords of hell who descended upon the earth.
Based on the location, it seemed like he was probably talking about Leviathan Dawn, the Overlord of Destruction.
“There is a story that says that when the wild land is in danger, He wakes up….”
A legendary story even among the wild gods.
That didn’t happen in Heroes Chronicle 2.
But this time, there was no law that said it had to be that way.
“Gounnunbaram, there is something I would like to ask you.”
“Go ahead.”
“Is there some kind of hidden secret in the Blade Beak Canyon?”
The place where Lena dies.
At Yuder’s question, Gounnunbaram closed his eyes for a moment, let his long eyelashes droop, and then nodded.
“It is said that long ago, in the wild lands, there existed a very powerful magical kingdom of elves. They were eventually destroyed by the overlords of Hell… but not all traces of them have disappeared.”
“Then the Blade Beak Canyon······.”
“Yes, it is the place where the capital of the fallen Magic Kingdom used to be. Even now, there are relics from that time all over the Blade Beak Valley. There are also a few mysterious ancient races that remain.”
Now I think I know why Lena suddenly showed up in Blade Beak Canyon.
The magical kingdom of ancient elves.
It too was destroyed while fighting against the overlords of hell.
It was a place that would interest Lena, a sorceress who had declared that she would dedicate her life to fighting demons.
“Yuder, are you heading to Blade Beak Canyon?”
“Yes, it’s a request from the Knights of the Holy Cross. I must go.”
“I see, I understand. After forming the Eastern Alliance, I will wait for you two. I look forward to the moment when we meet again.”
“Thank you. I look forward to seeing you again.”
That was it.
Yuder, who had once again shown his respect, carried Cordelia on his back as she kept rolling on the floor and left the shrine. Gounnunbaram smiled as he watched the backs of the two.
‘What a fantastic couple.’
It suits you really well and is lovely.
But there were those who thought differently.
“I admit that they look great together. They really are a fantastic couple.”
“Uh… It’s not an illusion?”
“It’s a mess, it’s a mess.”
The strong-willed Avalanche spoke of the fight on the rocky mountain once again, and Gail and Adelia looked at each other.
“Hmm… Those two have become quite aggressive.”
“It’s because of someone’s younger sibling.”
“Ahem, Yuder is a very quiet child.”
“So you’re saying Cordelia is radical?”
“That’s right, it’s extreme. Extreme. Extremely violent… No. Um, no, that’s not it.”
The rough snowball that was about to intervene at the end flinched at Adelia’s sharp gaze and began to act like nothing happened, and Gail smiled faintly.
“Anyway, it seems like both of you have gotten a lot stronger.”
“Yeah, if you just listen to their stories, they’re both really great.”
“Cordelia in particular is really good at fighting. She’s a total fighting cock… I get it. Just keep calm. Sob sob.”
As the rough avalanche began to creak again, Gail, trying hard to suppress her laughter, began to tell her story again.
“Anyway, given the circumstances, it doesn’t seem like it was just a love affair. It feels like there’s a lot involved.”
“That’s right. The Fairy Queens in the Holy Cross Guardians······.”
Moreover, they were currently fighting against a plot by demon followers to devour the entire savage land.
“I have to hurry and join those two.”
“Yes, definitely.”
“hmm.”
The last one was also a heavy avalanche.
Gail and Adelia, who had been facing each other at the sound of a small voice, simultaneously looked back at the rough avalanche, and the white baby bear spoke with narrowed eyes.
“No, I just thought they looked similar.”
“Are you referring to Miss Uther and Cordelia?”
“Oh, they look similar.”
“Well, Prince Gale is Uder’s older brother, and I am Cordelia’s older sister. It’s only natural that they resemble each other.”
“Yes, because we are brothers and sisters.”
Gale, who had said that, smiled at Adelia, and Adelia, instead of getting excited like usual, just nodded quietly.
And the rough avalanche thought.
‘No, not the looks.’
A strange atmosphere.
But it was a rough avalanche that he kept to himself because he knew that if he said it out loud, Adelia would definitely give him a fierce look.
And then another ten minutes or so.
“They’re all here!”
The rough avalanche that had jumped up from its spot began to run towards the front, and Gale and Adelia could also see it.
The village of the Great Storm Tribe spread out before my eyes.
