< Chapter 20 - Rough Avalanche >
&
Just before Uther opened the sarcophagus, Cordelia unconsciously squeezed her eyes shut.
There was a high possibility that the mummy or skeleton of the Saint Galleon would be found inside the sarcophagus.
Even though I was able to ride on Yuder’s back, I still didn’t want to see things I didn’t want to see.
‘I have to open my eyes to see Yuder’s reaction.’
At least after Yuder screams, I can mentally prepare myself and open my eyes.
So Cordelia waited for Uther’s reaction with her eyes tightly shut.
“oh.”
‘oh?’
First of all, it’s not a scream.
Cordelia mustered up her courage and opened her eyes slightly, and soon had the same reaction as Uther.
“oh!”
There was no mummy or skeleton inside the sarcophagus.
In the place where the body should have been laid, there was a white garment decorated with gold thread, and on top of that was a sharp, triangular stone slab.
And a spear.
“What, what? Wasn’t that a grave?”
“Just a moment, I need to check the slate.”
“What does it say? Oh! I can read this too.”
It was engraved with gore, and it was said to be Cordelia, a sorceress. She could interpret the gore.
“Uh… Let’s just stay still. If the contents of this stone tablet are as they are….”
“It’s not a grave.”
This place was not Galleon’s tomb.
When you think about it, it makes sense. In the past, the Solari Cult had had influence across the continent, but it was awkward to have the tomb of none other than the Saint Galeon lying deep underground in the savage lands.
“I have laid down a clue. Five. The path leading to the Master. The most sacred land on earth, guarded by the Master.”
Cordelia, who had been reading intermittently, suddenly hugged Uther’s neck tightly.
“Yuder, Yuuder. Could this be?”
“Oh, no way.”
There were several unfinished quests in Heroes Chronicle 2, some of which involved the Solari Order.
Garius, the most renowned of the Solari champions, was killed in a fight with the Daemon Prince Raizegang.
The Solari Order held a grand funeral for their hero, but did not reveal the location of his tomb to the world.
Tomb of Garius.
According to the quests that can be accessed in fragments in Hero Chronicles 2, there is a tomb of Garius somewhere on the continent, and that tomb is where the most important secret of the Solari Cult is hidden.
“It’s a clue. If we collect them all, we can find the location of Garius’s tomb.”
As Uther spoke, holding up a triangular slab of stone, Cordelia quickly visualized the slab’s completed form.
“Pentagon.”
The reason was simple.
This is because there was already a quest in Heroes Chronicles 2 where you could obtain a similar piece of stone tablet.
“There are also hints about the tomb of Paladin Verpa. It seems like each stone tablet contains a hint about the location of another stone tablet.”
“Then it would be possible to collect them all?”
“It’s possible. If we collect them all, the path to Garius’s tomb will open.”
“The Holy Land of Solari.”
My heart was pounding. It was the sacred ground of the Solari Cult, which had a great influence on the entire Heroes series – and it was also the place where something that was referred to as ‘the greatest secret’ was hidden.
“The heroic tale will be turned upside down.”
“Yeah, it just got 100,000 likes.”
The two people who had been talking nonsense soon turned their gaze from the stone tablet to other things.
It was clearly hundreds of years old, but it was as clean as new, along with a spear.
“It’s the clothes of a church. Is it a holy robe?”
“I think so. Galleon was a saint.”
Yuder quickly took out his clothes and unfolded them. It was exactly the kind of uniform a martial artist would wear. It wasn’t like a game where you could immediately see the abilities, but since it was a holy fighting uniform, it would not only increase the wearer’s agility and strength, but also help with the circulation of internal energy.
“It’s time to say goodbye to the rabbit set.”
“Why not just wear a headband? If you’re going to wear one, wear a tail too······.”
Ignoring Cordelia’s words, Uther laughed and looked back at the window after packing up his uniform.
“I know this. It’s the Solari’s Holy Spear, right?”
“Oh, a spear. Even though it’s disposable, it’s incredibly powerful.”
The Holy Spear itself was not disposable.
The ultimate skill embedded within the Holy Spear was ‘Solari’s Punishment’, which was disposable.
‘Because if you use it, the Holy Spear itself will burn and disappear.’
But as I said before, the power itself was outstanding, so it was good to use as a trump card.
“Okay, okay. A huge chain quest that no one has ever done before. I smell a jackpot. I’m going straight to the tomb of the Paladin Verpa! I want to do it.”
At the end, it was Cordelia who suddenly got angry and fell asleep.
That would be the case, since the two were currently investigating the Rough Avalanche Incident, which was the first step toward stopping the barbarian invasion.
Uther picked up Cordelia as if he was comforting a baby and said:
“It can’t be done right away since it spans the entire continent anyway. The triangular stone tablet discovered in Hero Chronicles 2 is in the Argon Empire, right?”
“That’s true. But it’s still a shame.”
Cordelia sighed and asked Yuder again.
“Then, Yuder, are you going to investigate the avalanche right now?”
“I guess… I guess we should, but I think it would be better to take a day off. We’re both tired.”
In fact, Cordelia was the problem, rather than Uther himself, because her magic power was being consumed so severely.
“Huh… I don’t have enough magic power, magic power.”
“Thanks to the energy of Solari, monsters can’t enter here, so let’s get some rest for a day and leave tomorrow morning.”
“Yes, Dad. Make me something delicious.”
“My princess, tonight’s dinner is beef jerky soaked in hot water.”
“Dude, this is fucking exciting.”
Uther, who smiled pleasantly at Cordelia’s reaction, turned his gaze to find a place to sleep.
&
The next morning.
The two people who left the cave early headed straight to the wild avalanche sanctuary.
As the Great Storm said, there was a strong wind mixed in, but still, a sanctuary is a sanctuary. As soon as we entered a certain area, the snowstorm stopped as if it were a lie, making it much easier to proceed.
But that was only for a moment.
Uther and Cordelia looked up and frowned.
“I have to climb this?”
The rough avalanche lived on the top of a rough rock mountain.
At first glance, it looked like it was at least several hundred meters high, but the path up there also looked incredibly rough.
“There might be some Devil’s Eyes or Angry Horn tribe members waiting in ambush in the middle?”
“It seems likely, considering the Great Storm Tribe warriors did not return.”
A rough and rugged rocky mountain.
The devil followers and savages lurking in that gap.
Cordelia, who had been watching quietly, turned her gaze towards Uther and spoke.
“It’s not always right to do the hard work.”
“They say a little makes a lot of money, but you have to consider efficiency.”
It was too tiring to climb that rugged mountain and be prepared for any ambush that might lie in wait.
So, like typical rotten people, Uther and Cordelia decided to resort to trickery.
“This is it, you just have to go to the top.”
“Yes, the route is not set.”
In fact, the two had already discussed this to some extent last night.
Thanks to this, executing Plan B was also easy.
“Execute the unicorn plan.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Yuder immediately responded by attaching several magic circles to the wooden board he was carrying on his back and activating them.
What I used was basic fly magic.
After pressing down on the wooden board that had risen to waist height several times, Uther gave Cordelia a thumbs up and covered the wooden board with leather and a blanket.
“The power itself is weak, but the duration is long. If you stack several of them, it should be enough.”
Cordelia nodded and took out the Wingwind Arrow and attached it to the bottom of the wooden board. It was the engine and steering wheel of the makeshift flying machine.
“In front? Behind?”
“behind.”
Because I could lean against the back of the chair if I sat in the back. It was a decision made with efficiency in mind.
“Then, madam, I will ride in front.”
“Okay.”
As Uther took his place on the wooden board, Cordelia took her place behind him and covered herself with a blanket.
“let’s go.”
And then dong dong dong.
The wooden board carrying the two people slowly rose toward the summit.
&
Uder’s prediction was not wrong.
On the rocky mountainside, the abode of the rough avalanche, fifteen warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe were lying in wait.
They all had abnormally swollen muscles and red eyes, and the entire tribe had fallen under the influence of Belial, the Overlord of Corruption, and had become the servants of the devil.
“The Great Storm Tribe has sent another investigation team. They will definitely show up today, so don’t let your guard down.”
The barbarian warriors nodded their heads at the words of the Direhorn, a warrior of the Angry Horn tribe and now the demon eye mine.
The Great Storm Tribe’s Survey Corps.
They were the ones who had already slaughtered us twice, but they didn’t even tire and sent us a third time.
‘It’ll be soon.’
At the top of the rock mountain, Jarakul, an executive of the Devil’s Eye, was carrying out some work.
Once that task was completed, a direct attack on the Great Storm Tribe would begin.
“Come as many times as you want. No matter how many times you come, I will slaughter you.”
The Dire Horn looked down the mountain, caressing the blade of his beloved great axe. The other barbarian warriors also smiled wickedly. They had heard that this expedition included a very beautiful girl.
“Come on in, come on······.”
I’ve been waiting since this morning.
There was a hint of impatience in the scary horn’s gaze as it looked at the only path leading to the summit.
But even an hour later, or two hours later, the investigation team still didn’t show up.
The reason was simple.
Uther and Cordelia were already higher up than the Direhorn.
&
“Haaak… Hah! Heh, it’s hard.”
It went up about three-quarters.
Cordelia, who was practically bathed in sweat, said, panting as she briefly parked the wooden plank on a fairly flat spot.
“Dude, shit… isn’t this harder?”
Thanks to the Fly Magic Circle, it didn’t require much strength, but the problem was time.
This is because the magical power consumption was enormous as I continued to operate the Wingwind Arrow, no matter how slowly.
Uther looked at Cordelia, who was lying on the floor, gasping for breath, and then spoke calmly.
“Hmm… I think this is much more comfortable.”
“Of course you bad boy!”
Because all Uder did was sit there.
“Whoa, calm down, my princess.”
“Haa··· Ha··· Seriously, it’s not like I’m some kind of Princess Maker, but my daughter is the only one suffering.”
“Hold on a little longer, we’re almost there. Fighting?”
Cordelia responded to Uther’s encouragement with her middle finger, took a few more deep breaths, and then climbed back up onto the wooden plank.
“let’s go.”
“Can we leave right away?”
“Since it’s difficult, let’s finish it all at once.”
Cordelia, who had answered appropriately, gestured as if she could not say more, and Uther sat down again.
It was just when we were about to set off again.
“Yuder, Yuuder.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Just after Uther answered, Cordelia suddenly hugged Uther’s waist tightly and pressed her entire body against him as she spoke.
“I didn’t mean to go this far, but I think we’ll have to share the pain.”
What does that mean? Sharing the pain.
But Uder didn’t really need to ask, because he knew it right away.
“Huh?”
“ha······.”
As Uther flinched, Cordelia’s two hands began to caress Uther’s body.
It was for one of the witch’s spells, Mana Drain.
It was still immature for actual use, but it could be used as long as the opponent did not resist.
“Ohhh… good, good. You boasted about your pure energy, but it really is clear?”
A pure energy created by the meeting of extremes.
The more she groped Uther’s body, the brighter Cordelia’s face became, while Uther’s face turned ashen.
“Hey, hey… I’m a nine-syllable person….”
“Are you still trying to sell off the old syllables? Oh my! Can’t you just sit still?”
Cordelia, who was excited, giggled and groped Uther’s body even more diligently – no, she spread her mana drain.
But that was only for a moment, as Cordelia’s face soon turned ashen again. This was because the Wingwind Arrow was starting to take away her magical power in earnest.
“Ah.”
“Ugh.”
The structure is such that Uther loses his magic and life force to Cordelia, and then Cordelia loses her magic force to the arrow of the Wing Wind.
As expected of a crazy couple, Uther and Cordelia started to become worn out together.
“Something… something doesn’t feel right.”
“Almost··· there···.”
And finally near the top.
Uther and Cordelia fell down on the wooden board and rolled on the ground naturally, buried in the piled up snow.
“Haaak··· haa··· ha······.”
“Haa··· hoo··· hoo······.”
Who on earth was Plan B for?
“Haa··· Ugh··· Hey, wake up. If you keep doing this, you’ll catch a cold.”
Thanks to the protection of winter, I didn’t feel the cold much, but if I was buried in the snow and covered in sweat, I was bound to get sick.
Yuder, who still had some stamina, got up like a zombie and approached Cordelia, and Cordelia was helped to get up by Yuder’s hand.
“Still, they all came.”
“They all came.”
Anyway, I reached the top.
I was so confused on the way up that I didn’t notice much, but when I came to my senses, I felt a strange energy from the entire summit.
“Let’s recover our stamina here first and then begin the investigation.”
Uther, speaking softly, dug out his eyes and gathered them together to create a suitable place to rest, and Cordelia drank half of the remaining mana potion and handed it to Uther.
“Here, you too.”
“thank you.”
Even though the internal energy and magical power were different, the fundamentals were the same, so it was not ineffective.
After swallowing the blue liquid as cold as ice water, Uther sat down next to Cordelia and spread out a large blanket to cover both himself and Cordelia.
“having fever.”
There were only a few magic circles left, but it was not the time to be frugal.
As Uther tore the magic circle, a warm heat rose inside the blanket, melting Uther and Cordelia’s bodies.
“I’m sleepy······.”
Cordelia leaned against Uther and closed her eyes, and Uther wasn’t much different.
‘You have a fever, so you’ll be okay.’
There is also the protection of winter.
Uther hugged Cordelia and closed his eyes.
And then another hour, then two hours.
When the Scary Horn group, who had been sitting halfway up the mountain, could no longer wait and began to descend.
A sharp, evil cry woke Uther and Cordelia from their sleep.
