Chapter 94 – The Golden Sun
Ancient Black Dragon Malekith.
As the only ancient dragon to appear in the second part of Heroes’ Chronicles, he was practically the final test for the playable characters from the Kingdom of Cailun.
“Klararararararararara-!”
The bastard’s roar filled the sky and the earth.
An ominous silence reigned over the surrounding area.
The sight of a giant creature measuring 150 meters in length roaring high in the sky was a myth in itself.
Most of those who settled on the island felt a mixture of wonder and fear.
To them, Malekith was virtually a god.
And it was the same in the original.
In the original, he was a southern god whose status was not small, but certainly greater than it is now.
‘The South’s greatest ordeal.’
Malekith’s appearance itself occurred early in the original story.
It was he who brought about the destruction of the South, which was a decisive factor in the downfall of the Kingdom of Cailun, following the great invasion of the Northern Barbarians and the massacre of the royal family in the capital city.
As it is a hero story series that boasts a considerable degree of freedom, it is possible to fight Malekith right from the beginning if you want.
But even if he was Maximilian, who was called the Pearl Man, fighting Malekith in the early stages – no, in fact, even in the mid-to-late stages – was nothing but an act of suicide.
‘It’s only in the very late game that you can fight him.’
That was only possible after almost all of the playable characters had united to form a raid party.
No playable character could stand against Malekith alone.
‘A god-like being.’
No, really, God.
The one who massacred all the humans in the South and burned down the Forest of Eternity was able to be reborn as an evil god by devouring countless resentment and vengeful spirits.
Of course, all of this was in the original story.
The current Malekith has not yet become a god.
Not only was the South not devastated, but the dragon wasn’t even able to properly sleep.
But even so, it was an ancient dragon.
As I repeatedly emphasized, he was a god-like being.
“Koooo-.”
Malekith took a deep breath and looked down at the ground.
A huge, gigantic being looked down upon the insignificant creatures of the earth.
[Sicily.]
His voice shook heaven and earth.
At the same time, a strange and merciless will was transmitted to the minds of everyone on the island.
“Eww!”
“Ah! Ugh!”
There were those who trembled in fear just from hearing Malekith’s angry voice.
It was the result of a powerful dragon piercing their will.
“Please forgive me. Please forgive me.”
“Please save me. Please save me.”
The weak-hearted fell to the ground and begged. Some bowed their heads, while others burst into tears.
It wasn’t just humans.
So did the goblins and orcs.
For them, crushed by fear, rational thinking was impossible.
[Sicily.]
Malekith spoke again.
At his call, Cecilia stepped forward, tears streaming down her face.
“Here she is, a lowly woman serving a great man.”
Cecilia cried out, bowing her head to the floor.
The distance between Malekith and Sicilia was hundreds of meters, and she was so small and delicate compared to Malekith’s giant body that resembled a giant, but Malekith did not miss Sicilia’s voice.
She stood out clearly among the thousands of people.
[What happened?]
The question was filled with anger and reproach rather than affection and friendliness.
Sicilia, who had been subjected to the wrath of a god-like being, trembled in fear and released all the ritual barriers she had normally been deploying. She did so to open the door and welcome his will before Malekith shattered and crushed her.
The transmission of memory.
Sicilia conveys everything she saw, heard, and felt.
Malekith wasted no time.
As soon as Sicilia came to her senses, she understood all the recent events at once.
That is why he expressed even greater anger.
[Foolish and weak things.]
Malekith’s wrath was not focused on Cecilia alone.
However, Cecilia, who was fully conscious, felt like her mind was being crushed by even a hint of anger. She was indescribably terrified, but she was so immersed in fear that she didn’t even realize it.
Repeated mistakes.
The disappearance of Gamor Khan and the death of Madhurs.
The departure of the Ten Swordsmen, whom we worked so hard to recruit, and the defeat at Port Argon.
Ascalon, who ultimately failed to rob.
That wasn’t all.
Sicilia and Orga even failed to protect the island.
The dragon’s sleep did not end in perfect health, and Malekith’s own wounds did not fully heal, even with Ascalon embedded in his chest.
[I will punish you personally.]
Sicilia felt as if her soul was being crushed by Malekith’s declaration.
Because she knew full well how ruthless Malekith could be. The pain would continue so horribly that she would rather desire death.
“I was wrong. I was wrong. Please forgive me.”
Although Cecilia cried and begged, Malekith’s attention had already left her.
He saw Orga.
I burst into mental laughter at the sight of the bastard lying there in such a miserable state despite having his own blood on him.
Dragon Legion.
It was practically in ruins.
The army he had thought he would face when he woke up three hundred years later was so broken and damaged that it was impossible to even recognize its form.
That’s why Malekith laughed.
It shook the entire island.
[Trivial things!]
The anger did not subside.
My anger towards Carlos and Lion was rising again. I was disgusted by the very existence of those bug-like creatures swarming around the island.
Erase everything.
Destroy everything on this island.
[Klarararararararara-!]
The dragon’s wrath was transmitted to the heavens.
The will of the god-like being caused the miracle.
Kururung-!
The climate has changed.
In an instant, dark clouds gathered and covered the sky, and a strong wind blew under the pitch-black sky.
The waves around the island grew rough and a storm arose.
Quagga River!
Lightning struck from the sky.
Dozens of lightning bolts struck the ground.
[Klarararararararara-!]
Malekith roared in the midst of the incandescent world.
The dragon’s piercing power was unleashed once more, and the fainthearted fell, clutching their hearts. Heavy rain poured down from the pitch-black sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Lightning struck one after another.
The ground split open and the entire island shook. The earthquake was so powerful that most of the people on the island could not even stand on their own two feet.
“Haaak, ugh, haaah.”
Caesar couldn’t form words properly.
Even swearing as usual was difficult for her. All she could do was gasp in fear. And the same was true for Scarlett, who was beside her.
“Haa, hak, uh.”
Scarlett couldn’t breathe properly.
She cried and cried as if she had forgotten how to breathe. All she could do was crouch on the floor and gasp for air.
Quagga River!
Sebastian Le Guin looked up at the sky but couldn’t think of anything.
Count Kagehama did not dare to look up at the sky, so he lay down on the ground and covered his head, and Marquis Orphan gritted his teeth and glared at the sky, but that was all. Even he, who inherited the blood of the divine beast, could not do anything more than that.
Lightning struck.
Earthquakes and storms rocked the island.
Most of the ships that had been submerged rose, and the Sirens could no longer sing. Illyana Calacanis, the queen of the Sirens, burst into tears like a child, clutching the staff she had inherited from her ancestors.
Absolute Dragon Fear.
Malekith looked down upon the earth again, breathing his own fire to cleanse it.
But as he looked down upon the land, a strange sight caught the eye of Malekith, who possessed the transcendental perception of an ancient dragon.
There was someone raising his head.
There were those who stood tall and faced him instead of trembling in fear and howling, even though the Dragon Fear had been turned against them head-on.
“Ancient Black Dragon.”
Belkian narrowed his eyes behind the plague doctor’s beaked mask.
Instead of trembling in fear, he formed a seal and summoned the huge and powerful Phantom Steed, a pitch-black ghost horse engulfed in green flames with sharp eyes.
“I’m weak.”
Lena didn’t lose her wits even as a lightning storm swept across the island.
He passed by Sicilia, who was trembling and crying with her head bowed, spread his pure white wings, and flew up to the ground.
“He is not a god. He is just a giant monster.”
Kamael stretched out his sword.
He had already faced off against a transcendent being called the Demon Prince.
Even in the face of the Ancient Dragon’s overwhelming presence, he did not lose himself. He walked forward with such naturalness.
As Belkian and Lena had done, they moved towards one person.
“A heart of steel, an unyielding will, a peerless physique.”
There was someone who raised his head and began to hum softly.
There was one who stood tall on two feet and faced the terrors of the sky.
He was like the sun.
He was one who never lost his light, even in the midst of despair and fear.
He who dispels darkness.
A bringer of light to those wandering in the darkness.
Belkian could go straight ahead anytime, anywhere.
Just by following the path ahead of him, he could be sure that he was on the right path.
It was the same with Lenado. She could always find hope, because with him there could be no such thing as eternal and absolute darkness.
Two people stood beside him.
And then one more person was added.
The Sword Demon Kamael.
He smiled rarely.
Instead of trembling in fear at the sight of a god-like being, he smiled. He looked at his own sun, which had once dispelled the darkness of the Demon Prince. He stood beside him and glared at the sky.
“The seventh gate of the nine heavens and the nine heavens.”
He said.
Unleashed true power.
That alone was enough to banish Malekith’s wrath – the fear of that ancient dragon – from the surrounding area.
“Ultimate Sun Divine Art.”
Golden sun.
Landius clenched his fist. He met Malekith’s gaze, who was glaring straight at him, and fired his condensed power into the sky.
Quagga River!
A golden pillar rose up.
A golden flash of light from the ground struck the sky, leading to a miracle.
The sky covered in dark clouds parted and the sunlight poured down.
A single flash of light.
It stands out even more in the dark.
Those who trembled in fear saw the light.
A single ray of light pouring down from the sky, a golden pillar rising from the ground.
And in the meantime, Landius unfurled his raised fist.
Summoned by the light of the sun pouring down from the sky.
“Solar Blade.”
It is the sword of the sun god Solari, shining in gold.
Malekith trembled for a moment without realizing it. Instead of attacking or expressing anger, he simply watched. That was all he could do.
Golden sun.
One who is like the sun.
Landius took up his sword.
Grabbed the Solar Blade.
