Chapter 86 – Sebastian Le Guin
Cordelia’s anger was justified.
That would be the case, since out of the six Ten Swordsmen I’ve met so far, three of them were traitors.
‘Your father-in-law has just become a father!’
Three out of the original six are traitors.
If this ratio continues, it means that there are two more traitors among the remaining four.
Of course, it was an overly simplistic calculation, but in fact it wasn’t completely unreasonable.
But Uther thought a little differently.
Because the situation was different from the first inspection.
‘The first black one had too little information to begin with.’
The scenario for Hero Chronicles 2 began in earnest after the Kingdom of Seilun had virtually fallen.
The initial scenario of Heroes Chronicle 2 could be said to be one in which each playable character experiences the events that led to the downfall of the Kingdom of Cailun.
Uther, Cordelia, and the Red Wind are caught up in the invasion of the northern barbarians.
Lucas, who can get caught up in a barbarian invasion or a royal massacre depending on his choices.
Kaisa’s goal is to survive Malekith’s southern assault.
The playable characters on the Empire side had no reason to cross over to the Kingdom of Cailun in the first place.
In any case, the period when ‘the Kingdom of Seilun is functioning normally’ was said to last only a few months at most.
Here, since the first part of the Hero Chronicles deals with the past 10 years ago, it was impossible for anyone, whether an old or rotten person from the Hero Chronicles series, to know everything about the Kingdom of Cailun.
‘Because it wasn’t in the game in the first place.’
That’s why about half of the Ten Swordsmen appearing in Hero Chronicles 2 were beings that were more like ‘background settings’.
‘I didn’t even know much about my father right away.’
Count Bayer.
In the original, he was an unfortunate figure who died at the hands of the Great Demon Kreimler summoned by Haragen during the Northern Barbarian Invasion. As such, it was impossible for any playable character – even his son, Yuder – to witness how he fought in the North and how he died.
‘I never knew in my past life that the Sword of Wind was that strong.’
One of the Ten Swordsmen, he was swept away by the invasion of the northern barbarians and died.
There was a bit more information, but to summarize, that was all there was to Count Bayer’s role in Heroes Chronicles 2.
‘In a word, it’s just a device.’
The Great Demon Kraemler is strong enough to overwhelm the Ten Swordsmen.
The Kingdom of Seilun, which lost its northern powers to the invasion of the northern barbarians, was in dire straits.
This is an indicator that tells you things like this.
‘I just found out that my father was the Swordsman of the Wind.’
It was the same with Jeilgeomdo.
And among the Ten Swordsmen, about half of them were characters that corresponded to the ‘background setting’.
‘But Sebastian is different.’
It was different.
Sebastian Le Guin.
The reason that Uther and Cordelia were able to immediately recognize him, even though he was wearing a mask, was because he was the same type of ally as Wolf – a strong supporter at first, but after a certain point, he was a supporting character who lost his life while saving Kai’sa.
‘So Sebastian betrayed you?’
It was something that was difficult to understand with common sense.
The nobleman who risked his life to save Caesar sided with the pirates and took Caesar into custody?
‘Even if it’s the butterfly effect, it’s impossible.’
Sebastian’s voluntary betrayal was too improbable.
For some other reason.
Something other than a simple betrayal.
“Uncle Sebastian! Wake up! It’s Caesar!”
At that very moment, Caesar shouted loudly.
And at that shout, something suddenly occurred to Uther. Cordelia also had a feeling.
‘brainwashing?!’
Unless Sebastian betrayed her willingly.
If he is brainwashed or deluded.
““Sicily!””
Uther and Cordelia shouted at the same time.
A dark elf necromancer who is Malekith’s concubine and hates the elves of the Eternal Forest.
She could even bewitch people’s souls.
Of course, it wouldn’t have been easy to seduce someone as skilled as the Ten Swordsman, but it made much more sense than if he had betrayed them willingly.
‘But why all of a sudden.’
In the original, it was Cecilia who did not seduce Sebastian.
In order to seduce someone as powerful as the Ten Swordsmen, she would have had to go to great lengths, but why did she do it this time?
Uther stopped thinking.
It wasn’t important right now anyway.
And if it was a change of this magnitude, it could have been accepted as a butterfly effect and passed over.
“Uncle Sebastian! Ten Swordsman! I’m out of my mind right now!”
Caesar shouted again, and at that moment Sebastian swung his sword. It was a swift swordsmanship that left no one knowing when he had drawn his sword.
Chakagagagagagak-!
The wall around the iron gate shattered into pieces with a terrible sound.
Sebastian, who did not break the wall but rather cut it down to expand the space, breathed white breath from between the mouths of his iron mask and emitted a red glow in his eyes.
“Oh my, it’s still tasteless. What should I do?”
Caesar groaned, clutching at his chains.
It seemed that the reason why Kaisha, who had become stronger than the original, was so helplessly subdued was because he couldn’t use his skills against Sebastian.
‘Sebastian was stronger to begin with.’
In any case, he was the Ten Swordsman.
“Tshuaa-”
Sebastian exhaled again, slowly raised his sword, and spoke in a low voice.
“Uder Bayer, Cordelia Chase. Priority elimination targets. Uder is worthless. Cordelia is valuable. Uder is killed. Cordelia is detained with dismemberment.”
“What the fuck is that little shit talking about! Who killed who?”
You dare, Yuder?
As Cordelia groaned, Caesar glared at her and shouted.
“That’s because the taste is bad! Don’t swear at my uncle!”
“Hey! Isn’t it an insult to say you’ve gone to Matang?”
Even in the midst of all this, Yuder thought.
Sebastian’s words.
The story is that Uther himself is killed and Cordelia is imprisoned.
‘value.’
The first thing that comes to mind is summoning a demon.
Malekith had connections to the demonic followers, so perhaps Cecilia had the help of the Demon’s Eye in bewitching Sebastian.
‘And in the meantime, you told us a story?’
Wait, isn’t this why you’re trying to seduce Sebastian because of us?
These two people ruined and completely destroyed every plot the devil’s followers plotted.
But those two people headed south.
If the Devil’s Eye had given Sicily plenty of warnings about the two of them.
If that is what made Sicily want to secure new power.
It was all hypothetical, but it made sense.
And then Uther stopped thinking again.
First, I had to subdue Sebastian in front of me.
“Caesar! You’re not full power?!”
Although it was a cut and dry remark, Caesar, like a wild beast woman, intuitively understood Uther’s words and nodded.
“You’re much weaker than the original uncle!”
If so, that’s fine.
Yuder opened the meat gate without any further hesitation.
Kwagagagagagagang-!
A shockwave swept through the building with a loud noise. Kaisa opened his eyes wide in surprise at the sudden explosion of Uther’s energy, and Sebastian also instinctively stepped back. Sebastian’s instincts had reacted to Uther’s overwhelming momentum.
“Take it away!”
That was the moment when Cordelia cried out in excitement.
“No! Don’t kill him! He’s my uncle!”
Kaiser, who had never even imagined that someone could kill Sebastian, the Ten Swordsman, shouted reflexively.
That’s because Yuder’s momentum was so great.
“I know! Cordelia!”
And then Uther kicked the ground.
He used his super-strong confidence along with thunder to quickly close the distance between himself and Sebastian.
‘Coming!’
Swift sword strike.
Even if he was a Jedi, it was impossible to see and dodge Sebastian’s sword strike. That’s why he used clairvoyance.
He perfectly read the movements of Sebastian’s muscles and bones, and also predicted the trajectory that the sword would draw.
“damage!”
Caesar shouted.
But instead of avoiding the sword strike, Yuder threw his body towards the sword’s trajectory.
Kang!
Sebastian’s sword bounced off.
Uther’s arm blocked Sebastian’s sword, and despite his dazed state, Sebastian opened his eyes wide.
Because it was an incomprehensible situation.
“Block the sword?!”
With bare hands?
And the sword bounced off?
It was natural to be flustered because it was so unrealistic. However, Yuder did not wait for that gap. He kicked the ground again and dug into Sebastian’s arms, and struck his thigh with the sword.
Chuhwak-!
The shockwave from the capital split the atmosphere, but unfortunately it did not achieve its purpose. Sebastian, as expected from the Ten Swordsman, moved his legs at that moment and deflected Yuder’s attack. Although his thigh was torn long, the wound itself was shallow.
And then Sebastian’s attack continued. He struck down Uther with the end of the sword’s handle, and Uther foolishly escaped Sebastian’s embrace and dodged his attack. At this point, Cordelia’s magic was complete, and there was more than enough time left.
“Ice Age!”
As expected, Cordelia’s scream was heard.
At that moment, a cold wind – no, a polar wind that was simply too cold to be described as cold – filled the building.
Even a blizzard started to blow.
Field magic.
This time, the magic that was made compatible was Ice Magic and Gust Magic.
It may look simple, but it is a mixture of three magics, and the attributes are strengthened with the protection of the four seasons.
“Whoa?!”
The wind was so cold that Caesar screamed without realizing it and threw away the chain he was holding.
For her, who had lived her entire life in the tropical sea, the current cold was both unfamiliar and fatal.
The temperature dropped in an instant.
A wintery land comparable to Frost Anvil spread out inside the building.
Sebastian was also a southerner.
No, to begin with, it was a cold that was difficult for even those living in the North to endure.
But Cordelia and Uther were not affected at all.
Protection of the four seasons.
This is because the protection of winter was protecting the two of them.
“The basic strategy is to exploit weaknesses.”
“If there is no weakness, then it is a jackpot to make it.”
Cordelia spoke after Uther.
The reason I had been desperately hoping for field magic in the first place was for moments like this.
I live and you die.
A forced fight on home ground.
“Ah, ah, uh.”
In the corner, Kaisa was curled up like someone who would freeze to death at any moment.
So instead of wasting any more time, Uder charged straight at Sebastian.
“Ugh!”
Sebastian tried to respond by spitting out white breath, but his movements were much slower than before.
Sebastian, whose skills had already declined as a result of the delusion, was now reduced to less than half when the extreme cold took effect.
‘The Ten Swordsman is also a person! A person!’
If the Ten Swordsman had been in good condition, he would have been able to somehow create normal movements using the power of his aura or fly out of Ice Age’s range, but Sebastian in front of him was unable to take such an active action, perhaps because he was in a dazed state.
In other words, Sebastian was no different from a sandbag in front of Yuder now.
Quagga River!
The thunderclap was intense.
Sebastian was unable to block a single blow, and after being hit by seven consecutive strikes, he staggered back. Yuder grabbed Sebastian by the neck. He threw him to the ground and then used another thunderclap to break the bones in his arms and legs.
“Kwaaak-!”
Sebastian screamed in excruciating pain, but instead of stopping, Uther slashed him in the stomach just as he had done to Caesar.
“Cough!”
Sebastian, who had vomited a large fountain of blood, fainted and fell to the ground, while Kaisha, who was half-dead from the cold, let out a single scream.
“mister!”
“Cordelia!”
“huh!”
Cordelia, who responded to Uther’s call immediately after, took over Ice Age.
Of course, since the environment itself had already changed, it didn’t get warmer right away, but it would soon return to normal temperature.
“Phew.”
Cordelia was nervous because her opponent was the Ten Swordsman, and it was Sebastian, the Sword of Swiftness, but she was able to subdue him more easily than she had imagined, so she let out a sigh of relief.
“It’s okay, it’s the Ten Swordsman. He won’t die from that.”
You’re not dead, are you?
Immediately after speaking to Caesar, Cordelia turned to Uther, who nodded.
Sebastian’s breathing became calm despite spitting up a lot of blood, as expected of a Ten Swordsman who had risen to the ranks of a superhuman.
‘Because Sebastian is a lycanthrope.’
Unlike Kai’sa, who inherited the blood of an ancient god and could use the powers of lycanthropes, Sebastian was simply a lycanthrope himself.
The fact was kept a secret, and only a handful of people knew about it.
“Ha, ha, those crazy guys. It really is as the rumors say.”
When Caesar got up with a groan and muttered softly, Cordelia flinched without realizing it.
It’s just as the rumors say.
How on earth did the rumor spread?
Aside from the fact that he ran away, weren’t there only good rumors about him?
In any case, it was a good thing, as he had saved Caesar and even subdued the man in the iron mask, who he had expected to be a difficult opponent.
Uther took off the iron mask Sebastian was wearing and let out a long breath.
“The helmet itself is ordinary. It seems unlikely that the delusion would have dispelled itself to this extent, so I think we should take it to a safe place and have it properly examined.”
Cordelia nodded at Uther’s words.
Although Cordelia was an all-rounder when it came to magic, she was still lacking in many areas when it came to magic that manipulated the human mind.
It would have to be shown to a proper priest or psychic.
‘But it’s a bit of a waste to call it Belkian.’
It wasn’t even the time yet that Belkian had declared that he could ‘summon himself’.
“Ha, hoo. Okay. Anyway, let’s escape. If there’s too much noise, the pirates will come.”
As he said that, Kaiser tried to lift Sebastian up, but at that moment, Uther raised his hand and stopped Kaiser from approaching.
Cordelia also said, grabbing Caesar’s sleeve.
“Hey, Caesar.”
“why?”
“Isn’t there only Sebastian?”
“what?”
“Among the pirates, who can beat you?”
“Of course. Why is that?”
“You caught Sebastian.”
“ok?”
“The only person stronger than you is Sebastian, and you caught him.”
Caesar blinked at Cordelia’s explanation, finally fully understanding the current situation.
“Oh, really?”
Sebastian is no more.
That is, there are no enemies left on this island that could threaten the party.
“But why are you running away? It’s the pirates who should be running away. Isn’t that right?”
Cordelia smiled darkly, and Caesar, who had been blinking and looking dazed, also smiled brightly.
“Hey, let’s be friends. I like you.”
“Okay, let’s go raid the pirates’ treasure together.”
“Yeah, let’s go get a neck cut.”
The two beast women smiled brightly and passed Yuder and Sebastian and went out into the hallway.
I faced a group of pirates running towards me, shouting, with a joyful expression on my face.
And one person.
Instead of going to war, Uder offered a moment of silence to express his deep condolences to the leading group, who sensed something odd – but intuitively felt that it was too late to turn back.
