< Chapter 3 - Count Chase #3 >
&
The mornings at Count Bayer’s house were usually quiet.
But today was different.
Starting with the head butler Baron, who had served Count Bayer for a long time, all of Count Bayer’s servants were extremely busy from the morning.
This was because news had been received that Count Bayer, who had been away for over two months on an expedition, would arrive three days earlier than scheduled.
The expedition to reduce the number of monsters in the Bayrun area before winter was an annual event, but it was the return of the head of the household.
I couldn’t neglect the preparations for the welcome party.
Yuder, who was sitting in a sunny spot and watching the servants busily come and go, looked around and asked.
“But why are you here?”
“I know.”
Cordelia, who was sitting next to Uther while fully dressed, answered in a slightly dazed voice.
In fact, both of them knew why Cordelia was there now.
“Father is growing up today too.”
“It’s big.”
Count Chase.
Because he, a comrade who had been through thick and thin with Count Bayer many times, showed up with Cordelia.
‘Greetings to your father-in-law.’
Since it was a word that would make Cordelia go crazy and would probably make Uther break out in hives if he said it out loud, Uther kept it to himself for now and looked at the wide open main gate as if welcoming the return of Count Bayer.
“But there is something.”
“uh.”
“Aren’t we too peaceful?”
About a month after awakening the memories of my ‘previous life’.
At Cordelia’s words, Uther turned his head and soon snorted again.
“Oh, you should enjoy the moment. Do you know that the main scenario hasn’t even started yet? It’s going to be hard, hard, if you leave home.”
“Huh, I know that too?”
“Does anyone know that?”
Cordelia wanted to say something in rebuttal to Uther clicking his tongue, but she had nothing to say, so she just pouted her lips.
As Uder said, once the main scenario starts, the door to suffering opens wide.
‘Because the Devil’s Hand attack is incredibly hard.’
It was a gruesome event in which several of the children of the twelve northern families were killed or kidnapped.
Even in the game, Cordelia was only given three paths: being kidnapped by the devil and becoming a sacrifice, being killed on the spot, or barely escaping and struggling for her life.
From the beginning, Uther’s main scenario started with him going on a journey to find out the whereabouts of Cordelia who went missing in Baylun, so if things really progressed like the original, Cordelia’s future would be a path of flames rather than a path of thorns.
‘I won’t leave it like that, though.’
Changes the original content to create a new ending.
Making changes to Cordelia’s main scenario could be considered the beginning.
‘Well, that’s not the reason.’
Cordelia flinched as Uther suddenly smiled slightly.
“What’s that? That fierce look in your eyes?”
“The look in Uther’s eyes, worried about his beloved Miss Cordelia?”
“Hey, are you getting goosebumps? And, aren’t you just too used to it?”
“what?”
“that.”
“That’s it?”
“There’s that, that.”
“Do you love me? Do you love me? The cute and lovely Miss Cordelia whom I would not mind putting in my eyes?”
Cordelia blushed and shivered as Uther spoke smugly.
“Hey, what is that crazy guy talking about?”
“Your father is coming.”
“huh?”
“Father.”
Cordelia understood too. She turned around and saw Count Chase walking towards her from over there.
“Miss Cordelia, you look beautiful today too.”
“Oh, my goodness, I’m so embarrassed. Thank you, Your Majesty.”
As Cordelia responded with a clumsy smile, Count Chase, who had arrived in front of the two, turned around to look at Uther and then spoke with a displeased expression.
“Tsk, you’re still so skinny.”
A displeased expression, a displeased look in his eyes, and even a clicking sound.
But Uther wasn’t afraid at all, because he knew what would happen next.
“It’s nothing special, but eat it.”
“Thank you, Father.”
When Count Chase held out a small ship, Yuder quickly accepted it and expressed his gratitude.
He was truly a precious father.
Meanwhile, Cordelia blinked with a blank expression. She had heard it before, but seeing it in person was a truly strange feeling.
“hmm.”
Count Chase stared at the two for a moment, wondering if he knew what Uther and Cordelia were thinking. Then he looked away and said.
“Coming.”
It was a sudden remark, but Uther and Cordelia immediately understood.
Just beyond the main gate.
Count Bayer was returning.
&
Count Bayer would normally have led the knights on a campaign, but today he was accompanied only by a few subordinates and his eldest son, Gale Bayer.
Because I hurried my return after hearing the news about Uder.
The servants of the Count Bayer family lined up in front of the main gate, and Juder sat down next to Cordelia in front of the main gate.
And how much time has passed?
“Uder!”
A knight riding a red horse with a loud shout picked up the pace and arrived in front of the main gate.
It was Gale Bayer, Yuder’s older brother and the one who was designated as the next Count of Bayer.
He had blue hair and blue eyes and was ready to jump off his horse and hug Yuder, but he still didn’t forget the situation.
“Meet Count Chase.”
“It’s been a while.”
Although his tone was hard and cold, it was Gale who was more familiar to Count Chase than Yuder.
After accepting it with a cheerful smile, he looked back at Yuder.
“You’ve really gotten healthier. I can tell just by looking at your face.”
There was not a hint of selfishness in Gale’s face, which resembled Uther’s.
Gail Bayer.
The older brother of Juder Bayer, who is ten years younger than him.
As Outboxer 009, Uder was reminded of Gale Bayer from Heroes Chronicle 2, but only for a moment.
Because he was Outboxer 009 and also Juder Bayer.
A smile spread across Yuder’s face as well.
Because Gayle Bayer was a really good brother.
In Heroes Chronicles 2, ‘Juder Bayer’ remembered numerous anecdotes that were not expressed.
Seriously, hyung.
People I’ve met during the seventeen years I’ve lived as a Uder.
“I was lucky, really lucky. No, come to think of it, it’s all thanks to Miss Cordelia? She said she found the Sun Necklace when we went out to see the flowers together.”
Gale, who had spoken cheerfully, looked back at Cordelia and smiled a picturesque smile with a face that resembled Uther’s – but was more manly.
“Thank you very much, Miss Cordelia. Meeting you is the best luck for Juder. You are the goddess of fortune for the Counts of Bayer.”
“You are too kind. Oh, sir.”
When Cordelia barely managed to answer, Gail smiled again. He found her shyly answering so cute.
“What a true stroke of luck. I envy you.”
Gail, who even winked at Uder, laughed heartily and stepped aside.
Because today’s true protagonist has arrived.
“Uder.”
Count Bayer.
Count Bayer arrived riding on a black horse and jumped down from his horse.
He was a tall and broad-shouldered man with black hair and blue eyes, not inferior to Count Chase.
Although he wasn’t as excited as Gale, Count Bayer’s eyes were also filled with joy.
“You seem to have a lot to talk about. Let’s go in.”
“Yes, father.”
Although Yuder answered reflexively, the moment he answered, he felt his heart flutter.
It was because he could clearly feel the heart of his father, Count Bayer, who cared for and cared for Juder himself.
“I guess I can’t even see it.”
“How could I not recognize someone as big as you? Thank you for coming.”
Count Bayer, who chuckled and patted Count Chase on the shoulder, did not forget Cordelia either.
“As Gale already said, thank you very much. I really appreciate it.”
If it weren’t for the weekly escape, I wouldn’t have found the Sun Necklace.
Gail nodded in agreement.
“Father, it was the love of Uther and Cordelia that created a miracle.”
“Haha, that guy. Stop it. Isn’t Cordelia embarrassed?”
Cordelia was so embarrassed that she could die, as the rich man kept giving and receiving.
She blushed bright red and didn’t know what to do, so she ended up grabbing the hem of Yuder’s clothes.
‘Hey! Do something about it!’
‘Haha, this too shall pass.’
Uther responded to Cordelia’s desperate gaze with a look of enlightenment, and everyone who watched the small exchange between the two smiled happily.
“Let’s go in for now. Baron?”
“Yes, my lord. The banquet is ready. We warmly welcome your return.”
Things progressed rapidly as Baron, the head butler who had been taking a step back, stepped forward.
Inside the banquet hall of Count Bayer’s house.
Like other places, it had a stiff fortress-like feel to it, but it still looked nice with all sorts of delicacies laid out on a large table.
Count Bayer sat at the head of the table, flanked by Count Chase and Gale.
Uther and Cordelia took their places next to Gale, and at a table full of men, a pretty boy and a pretty girl sat side by side, more striking than Count Bayer, who sat at the head of the table.
“What a happy day, what a happy day.”
Count Bayer, who had a drink with Count Chase, spoke with a pleased face, and everyone around him nodded, but their eyes were focused on Uder and Cordelia, not Count Bayer.
‘Fuck, shit. I can’t even eat.’
‘Haha, this too shall pass.’
Uder, who responded to Cordelia’s desperate gaze with a look of enlightenment, looked at Count Bayer and said.
“Congratulations on your safe return, Father.”
“Yes, there were some injured, but no deaths, so this expedition was a great success. Your older brother, Gale, also played an active role.”
“Haha, you too, Father. I’m embarrassed in front of Miss Cordelia.”
Although he said that, the corners of his mouth went up, showing that he was truly happy.
‘Well, I guess Gale doesn’t like Cordelia?’
First of all, if you look at the original, Gale also had a fiancée who was about to get married.
As Juder was about to take a more cautious approach, Count Bayer looked at Juder again and opened his mouth.
“I heard from Yuder and Victor. He said he wanted to attend this gathering with Cordelia.”
“Yes, father. I would like to be with Miss Cordelia.”
When Uder answered with a straight face, the eyes of the knights who were the vassals of the Bayer family brightened again, and Count Chase also smiled slightly and let out a cheer.
Count Bayer nodded.
“Yes, you are also a child of our Bayer family, so it is only right for you to participate. However, Yuder, our Bayer family is a military family. Therefore, in order to leave the house, you must pass a test that proves that you can protect yourself. Do you know that?”
“I know, Father.”
Father’s Test Quest.
When Yuder answered coolly this time, Count Bayer became even happier and stood up from his seat.
“Originally, we should set a date and take the test, but if we do that, the journey will be delayed. What do you think, Yuder? You should take the test from me right here, right now.”
It was a sudden suggestion while he was eating, but Yuder was not flustered. Since he had already finished preparing, the sooner the exam schedule could be brought forward, the better.
‘Can you do it?’
‘I can do it.’
Uther answered Cordelia with his eyes, took a deep breath, and stood up.
“I will take the test, father.”
The final gateway to starting the main scenario.
It was obvious, but Yuder knew the answer.
