< Chapter 3 - Count Chase #2 >
&
Like the rest of the mansion, the Countess Chase’s drawing room was ornate and beautifully decorated.
The ceiling was white, paired with a floor of clean white marble, and the walls, which had several large glass doors leading to the garden, were blue-green, giving a cool feeling.
A carpet with bold red and yellow colors that gives off a luxurious feel, and luxurious furniture with bright colors overall.
In a place that seemed like a perfect place for beautiful ladies to gather and have a tea party, there stood an out-of-place presence all alone.
“Are you here?”
Arthur Chase.
Count Chase.
As a member of the Northern Four Rivers and a 7-star wizard, he was one of the northern representative battle wizards.
And as if to show that fact with his whole body, he was big, scary, and sharp.
If we were to compare it to a sword, would it be something like a claymore?
‘Red Storm.’
A nickname for Count Chase.
He, also known as the ‘Red Wizard’, always wore blood-red robes, and this was no different.
“Juder Bayer meets Count Chase.”
As Uther offered his courtesy, Count Chase, who had been standing facing the garden, turned around.
A tall man, nearly 2 meters tall, with short red hair.
Broad shoulders and rock-like muscles that are probably built on the battlefield.
Add to this the sharp gaze that seemed to pierce through the opponent, and the impression was truly intimidating.
It felt like I was facing a powerful warrior rather than a wizard.
‘Your mother’s genes worked hard.’
Because all three of Count Chase’s children, including Cordelia, were beautiful men and women like flowers.
Of course, Count Chase was by no means an ugly face. Rather, he had a thick, dark, manly, handsome face.
It was like when I went to find the Raize River. Maybe it was because I was nervous, but white noises were coming out of my head.
“Sit down.”
Count Chase spoke quietly again and took his seat at the head of the table.
Uther swallowed dryly and sat down in the seat occupied by Count Chase.
If it had been a normal meeting, the maids would have come in and offered refreshments by now, but there was only a thick, heavy silence between Count Chase and Uther.
About ten seconds like that.
As cold sweat began to run down Uther’s spine, Count Chase spoke again.
“I’ve heard a few stories.”
What was meant to happen has come.
Count Chase looked down at Yuder while maintaining his upright posture, and Yuder swallowed dry saliva and met Count Chase’s cold gaze.
To be honest, I was scared. I felt a similar feeling growing in my heart as when I first saw the Raize River.
But he didn’t turn his gaze away. He squeezed out every bit of his internal energy he had and endured Count Chase’s gaze.
Do that for a few seconds.
Count Chase, who had been looking at Uther with his glassy eyes, opened his mouth again and spoke.
“They say that he met his match while on a trip.”
deviation.
It was Count Chase who came in hard from the start.
But Uther remained calm. What Count Chase had mentioned was not just an aberration.
“I was lucky enough to get the Sun Necklace.”
There was no way Count Chase didn’t know that I had obtained the Sun Necklace.
So instead of answering, Yuder took out the sun necklace that he had kept inside his clothes and placed it on the table.
“It’s the necklace of the sun.”
“Hmm.”
A golden necklace engraved with the emblem of the sun god Solari.
Count Chase’s gaze, which had been focused on Uder, moved to the Sun Necklace. He stroked the necklace a few times with his thick, rough fingers and nodded.
“Indeed, it is an object that continuously emits extreme positive energy. What a great coincidence.”
The Necklace of the Sun was a sacred tool used by none other than Garius, the champion of the sun god Solari.
It was no exaggeration to say that it was a treasure of the church, so it was natural that Count Chase was impressed.
“Anyway.”
Count Chase put down the Sun Necklace. He glanced at Yuder again, then suddenly took out a small box from his bosom and continued speaking.
“This is useless now. But since you brought it, take it.”
What on earth could it be? Count Chase snickered as Uther looked at him, asking if he could open it.
“Uh, let me tell you in advance that it’s nothing special.”
It was a bit ambiguous, but it seemed to mean that it was okay to open it, so Yuder carefully opened the box and soon opened his eyes wide.
‘It’s nothing!’
The thing inside the box was a Yangjihwan that contained a strong positive energy. Just by opening the box, a fragrant scent seemed to fill the living room.
It wasn’t something that could cure the nine-syllable vein all at once like the sun-flower, but it was a valuable item that was of great help in treatment.
“and.”
Before he could express his gratitude to Yang Ji-hwan, Count Chase opened his mouth again.
He looked at Yuder with sharp eyes again and asked.
“I heard that Cordelia held you when you jumped off the cliff. Is that true?”
“···It is true.”
“Tch, you loser.”
Count Chase clicked his tongue as if he was displeased, searched through his pockets again and produced a small box.
“This is a fruit that increases your strength. The only people around me are magicians who only need the strength to hold a staff, so take it since it’s useless.”
‘The fruit of power?!’
Yuder looked at Ham in surprise once again.
The Fruit of Power is an item that permanently slightly increases strength, and like most items of this type, it was difficult to even see in the beginning.
Following Yang Ji-hwan, now the fruit of power.
‘Well, isn’t he actually a really good person?’
No, isn’t it that Yuder likes himself very much?
It seemed that Cordelia was more upset about the fact that Uther had hugged her than the weekly escape itself.
He has a harsh natural impression and is awkward at expressing himself, but he is actually a good person.
Uther looked up and saw Count Chase.
He still had a scary look on his face, but somehow he looked different than before.
“and.”
Once again he hit the jackpot.
Now, rather than being afraid of what would come out, Yuder began to look forward to it.
“I heard you’ll be attending the upcoming social gathering with Cordelia.”
A social gathering for the children of the twelve northern families – or more precisely, the minor children who have not yet entered public service.
This time, Cordelia seemed to have hinted that Uther would also participate.
Uder answered with some anticipation.
“Yes, I intend to do so.”
“If you want to travel a long distance, you need stamina.”
That was absolutely correct.
Uther waited quietly, and Count Chase did not disappoint this time either.
I thought he was going to cough again, but he took out a small box from his bosom and held it out again.
“Everyone around me is just a bunch of idiots who are stuck in their labs. They’re useless, so take them.”
‘The fruit of stamina!’
As the name suggests, it was an item that permanently slightly increased stamina.
For Yuder, who had poor physical strength, it was a treasure as valuable as Yang Ji-hwan.
“and.”
“Yes, father.”
As Yuder quickly answered, Count Chase coughed and put his hand in his bosom again.
“If you were to go on a trip, that old rascal Count Bayer would probably do something stupid like give you a test or something. It’s nothing much, but this might help.”
This time he didn’t say anything, but I could guess the size of the ship.
It was clear that it was one of the fruit series.
‘Ah, Father. Ah, Father.’
If I could play Heroes Chronicles 2 again, I would try to dig into Count Chase somehow.
This is just like the Treasure Goblin – no, it’s not Treasure Father.
Count Chase snorted again as Uther’s eyes lit up with deep gratitude, then stood up and said.
“Ugh, I’m done with what I’m doing. Now, let’s get out.”
“thank you.”
“There’s a bag under the table, so put it in there and take it.”
The Count of Chase, speaking softly, turned toward the garden as he had when he first came in.
It meant that there was nothing more to talk about.
It may have been a bit rude, but Yuder didn’t care.
What more could I ask for from my treasured father who even packed my bag for me?
As Uther quickly packed his things and left the reception room, those who had been waiting for him – Cordelia, to be exact – approached him with quick steps.
“Hey, are you okay? Nothing happened? What did your father say? Did he scold you a lot? Uh, he’s breaking off our engagement?”
It was a slightly frightened face.
Before answering, Uther looked over Cordelia’s shoulder and smiled at the sight of Maia and Dahlia fidgeting in the distance.
“Hey, what were you talking about? Huh?”
“Father.”
“Your father?”
“From now on, I’ll carry you. Don’t hug me.”
“···ok?”
Cordelia’s eyes widened as if she was wondering what he meant, and Uther laughed cheerfully.
&
The Garden of Count Chase.
Uther and Cordelia walked through the beautifully decorated flower garden, while Maia and Dahlia stood side by side and watched them.
So Cordelia covered her mouth with her fan and spoke in a small voice.
“So, your father packed a bunch of items for you?”
“Oh, eat and gain strength so I can carry you around. Don’t hug me.”
When Uther spoke again, Cordelia blushed slightly and snorted.
“Huh, well that’s good anyway.”
“You are your father’s daughter. You are so cheerful.”
“What is this?”
“Anyway, it turned out really well. If you eat all the things that Father gave you, you’ll feel much better than you do now.”
It was truly an unexpected stroke of luck. If the state of the nine-syllable pulse had improved, and if I had eaten the fruit of strength and stamina that you had given me – and finally the fruit of agility – I would have become about 1.5 times stronger than I am now, to put it in a slightly exaggerated way.
‘Of course, the current condition is very bad.’
Anyway, 1.5x is 1.5x.
Just looking at the bag made me laugh.
“however.”
“Oh, you’re going to give me something too? I love you, Lord. Just call me whenever you want.”
“No? Hey, so anyway, are you starting that now? The ‘Father’s Test’ quest?”
“Probably so.”
Father’s test.
The first main quest that appears in the main scenario of ‘Juder Bayer’.
As the name suggests, it was an event where Count Bayer, the father of Juder Bayer, acknowledged that his palsy had been cured and he was ready to leave the city.
In the game, you could challenge it after completely curing the Nine-Eyed Pulse through the Sunflower event and training in martial arts for one to two months. Despite being the first main quest, it boasted a level of difficulty that was not easy.
‘That’s one of the reasons why Yuder is a non-mainstream character.’
Even though the starting point was later than other characters, the father’s test quest delayed the time even more.
Moreover, unlike other quests, this one didn’t even have any tricks.
“Don’t worry. This is why I obtained the 36 treasures of the world. I’ll be able to go to Langest with you.”
“Huh, it’s not like I want to go with you to Langeste, is it?”
“Well, what can I say? It’s a typical line, but it sounds plausible because of your appearance.”
“What is that crazy guy talking about?”
Cordelia blushed as expected of a typical character who said the line, and Uther smiled slightly. And Maia and Dahlia, who were watching the two from afar, also smiled happily. From afar, they looked like a cute couple who were shyly whispering their love.
“Anyway, when does it start? For now, we’ll be leaving in two weeks.”
“Father will be back in ten days at the latest… so there won’t be a problem with time.”
After passing your father’s test quest and preparing for your journey, you head to Langest with Cordelia.
“Can I trust you?”
“Make sure to prepare well for your trip. There are things you need to pack along the way.”
This was enough.
Cordelia, as expected from a rotten person, immediately understood what Uther was talking about.
“Then I’ll wait for good news.”
“Okay, see you again soon.”
The two people, who had been bumping fists out of habit, walked towards Maia and Dahlia.
And a week later.
Count Bayer has returned.
