#199
Helmut
Episode 199
Helmut and Area returned to Baden much earlier than expected.
They headed straight to Baden’s dormitory. They instinctively avoided the temple and returned to the place that felt safest for them.
Including the time that Area was unconscious, it only lasted two days, so when they returned, Monday had just begun and other students were slowly leaving.
If I had left later, I wouldn’t have had to run into the high priest and his party. A little bit of regret remained.
“good night.”
Area and Helmut, who parted ways in front of the door, met each other at the same place exactly 12 hours later.
“hi.”
For some reason, Area gently avoided eye contact. She had been resting for those 12 hours, restoring her magic.
As the tense time passed and the moment became more relaxed, Area looked back on what had happened with Helmut. For some reason, I felt dizzy.
Faced with this situation for the first time, Area did not know what to do.
‘How did I usually treat Helmut?’
Area was the one who greeted Helmut by nodding his head calmly.
However, since it was an unconscious action, there is no way to recall it.
That was the reason why Area could not leave the visit for 12 hours.
But since there was nothing to eat in the room and she was hungry, Area ended up going out the door.
“hi.”
Helmut, on the other hand, looked at her calmly. As soon as he returned, he stayed at the Vis training center and recovered from Vis.
Being incomplete makes you feel insecure. It was the same for both.
After a moment of silence, Helmut asked:
“Are not you hungry?”
“Yes? yes. “I’m hungry.”
“Then let’s go.”
Area suddenly followed Helmut. The two were soon sitting side by side in the student cafeteria.
The tasks to be performed are basically outdoor activities. It was not forbidden to go into the city of Baden, but the road there was long. This was the closest place.
As soon as I saw the food, I felt hungry. Area asked, looking around the quiet surroundings.
“What time is it?”
There was almost no one in the student cafeteria. Area wasn’t the type to go to the student cafeteria often.
If you take a seat in this busy place, people will flock around to bother you.
“It’s 2 p.m.”
Helmut pointed to the clock behind Area. The only ones missing due to performance assignments are second graders. Other grades went to class.
This quietness will be maintained until the class ends.
‘It’s been a while since I felt relaxed.’
Pressed against time, I passed the dungeon with all my might, and fought a battle with the temple immediately after waking up.
For Helmut there was a gap in between, but for Area there was none.
Something just continued non-stop.
‘Yes, I have obtained Lampione’s inheritance. And Helmut… … .’
I ran for the former, but it quickly became unclear whether the former or the latter was more satisfying.
Area decided not to worry. A warm curry topped with a few croquettes was in front of me. Her hunger blurred her vision.
Helmut ate in silence. As if he had been taught not to talk while eating.
But he, too, was feeling an unexplainable tingling sensation.
Suddenly I looked up and saw Area.
Area always looked bright, but today it felt somehow different. Helmut discovered the slight difference.
Area, who used to comb her hair neatly, was disheveled today. She is a mess that I really want to touch.
‘It looks just like a cat.’
That was the feeling Helmut often felt while watching Area.
When Area, who was extremely cold to both Asuka and Sian, showed a softer attitude towards me, I felt like I had tamed a difficult cat.
However, I felt like Area would get angry if I patted her head while eating. Helmut decided to wait until later.
‘When do you start stroking your head when you’re dating?’
While harboring a strange question, Being in a relationship seems like a relationship that allows closer contact, so if the time is right, Area will understand.
If I had known it would turn out like this, I would have watched Wesley and the guys from the swordsmanship department get along with their girlfriends.
This was something that had not interested Helmut until now. Helmut had often observed and learned about the human world, but here he was an outsider.
“Why do you keep looking at me?”
Area grumbled for some reason. The plate in front of him was almost empty.
It was my first meal after starving for several days. I almost did it without even realizing it.
Helmut tilted his head to the side.
“Can’t I just look?”
“No, if you look at it that way… … “You become conscious of it.”
Area gave a vague answer. He’s already a guy with strong eyes. So much so that some guys feel pressured to even look directly into those dark eyes.
But that made his seriousness even more apparent. His feelings too.
Helmut answered simply.
“You can be conscious of it.”
So what he is saying is that he will look at whatever he wants.
Area shook her head in embarrassment.
“It’s arbitrary.”
After they both finished eating, Helmut asked.
“What should we do with our tasks instead?”
“Oh, that’s right, a performance task.”
Alea showed an expression that she had finally realized.
It was a laxity that was uncharacteristic of her. As if she only thought about getting Lampione’s legacy from the dungeon.
I hadn’t opened Rampione’s dungeon yet, but since I had achieved my goal, it felt like everything was over.
“What did you write in the document?”
Area was in charge of filling out the documents alone. No, this entire task.
Of course, Helmut performed more than was expected of him.
Area would not have written a document on the topic of exploring Archmage Lampione’s dungeon.
It will eventually be revealed that Rampione’s dungeon has been attacked.
If you do something else, there will be no evidence left.
‘Not only the temple but also the wizards will try to track it down.’
If someone finds out that the time when Rampione’s dungeon was attacked and the time when the priest was murdered are similar, they can try to find a connection between the two incidents.
But they will not reach Area and Helmut. They didn’t even leave a body behind.
Area searched for memories.
“What did you write? Ah, is it an ecological survey? I have all the data. “But you’ll probably have to submit proof that you’ve been there.”
The forest was two days away from here. It was quite far. However, it was a distance that could easily be reached with Area’s magic.
Helmut proposed right away.
“Then let’s go.”
“already?”
“Isn’t it better to go quickly and come back?”
It’s a week without classes for the first time in a while. If it’s an area, I’ll write a report right away, so I’ll finish the assignments quickly… … .
The same thought occurred in both of their minds. It wasn’t something I did alone.
Alea’s cheeks heated up as she looked around to see if someone was looking at her.
“OK.”
*
It was already night when I returned from a little bit of gathering, looking a bit sunburned.
Area decided to write a report based on the data and submit it tomorrow.
Just before entering the room, their hands briefly touched. Helmut caught it.
“tomorrow… … .”
Area looked around and was conscious of whether someone was around. Don’t forget that this person is disguised as a man.
Fortunately, it was a room at the end of the hallway, so there was no noise. Helmut suggested.
“Let’s go out to Baden around lunchtime.”
Ethan won’t be at the mansion anyway, and it doesn’t make sense to hang out at the instructor’s mansion when it’s a training assignment period.
“Tomorrow, yes.”
Area nodded. Even though it was only next door, it was time to say goodbye.
The two stood there facing each other for a moment. Without anyone thinking of leaving first.
It was only when they felt someone walking down the hallway that they turned their backs and entered the room.
“good night.”
After leaving a short greeting.
*
The next day, Helmut returned to his room after finishing his morning training as usual.
Suddenly the door opened, and Area appeared.
Unlike yesterday, when it felt somewhat loose, it looked perfectly angled.
Even each strand of hair is neatly organized. You can’t pat a head like that.
Helmut felt a bit of regret over missing the opportunity.
Area said with a determined expression.
“I thought about what we should do.”
After writing the assignment, Area was lost in thought for a long time.
She was someone who valued planning. It seemed to Helmut that she had no plans, which meant she would have nothing to do after lunch in Baden. Area thought about what happened after that.
Isn’t there something we can do together?
She turned Helmut’s vague plan to go to Baden into a concrete schedule. Just about everyone during the remaining performance period.
As I was writing it, it somehow felt strange to call it a date. That just needs to reflect Helmut’s opinion.
“Now look at this.”
Helmut looked at the schedule that Area showed him in silence. Giarea asked with enthusiasm, her eyes sparkling.
“Do you have any other plans?”
Area pointed out a blank space and confidently said that since the schedule was empty, it could be adjusted. Helmut was speechless for a moment.
In fact, he didn’t have any plans. He just put emphasis on meeting Alea.
Have lunch. Stop by the bookstore. Or stop by the store. Afterwards, I stop by a cafe and read a book. Area’s plan was generally like this.
‘I think reading is very important.’
Reading. Helmut never looked at books unless he was attending the academy.
Sitting still and reading books wasn’t Helmut’s cup of tea.
But what can you do? He nodded.
“Let’s do this for now.”
“good.”
Area smiled brightly. That bright smile sent a tingle through her heart.
It’s funny that there were times when I blamed the sprouts of darkness or my own heart for no reason. He now clearly knew the answer.
The two soon ate lunch and sat down at the cafe. The cafe was stocked with various books. It seems like the kind of place where you can read a book while drinking a drink.
Area, who had purchased a number of academic books at the bookstore, piled the books on the table and recommended them.
“There are many books here that are light to read. “Take one and read it.”
And then he quickly puts his nose into the new book he bought. He frowned slightly and concentrated well.
It was as if Helmut had been added to Area’s ordinary daily life.
As Helmut looked around the bookshelves of the bookstore, he felt like he had been told, ‘Let’s start studying for the exam now.’
‘It will help with my grades.’
Maybe he is telling himself in this way that he should study for the test in advance.
Anyway, we ended up being together as he intended.
After reading a book called ‘Murders in the Mansion’ that Helmut had randomly selected, he thought that he might enjoy reading more than he thought.
That’s how the day in Baden came to an end.
