< Chapter 40 - The Snow Queen #2 >
&
The Dragon Yallabaska.
A powerful being that is one of the ‘Seven Great Calamities’ that appears throughout the latter half of Hero Chronicles 2.
‘Another nickname is PC Killer.’
The seven great plagues were not called disasters for nothing.
Each one caused massive damage to the Pleiades, the stage for the Heroic Chronicles, but Yallabaska was particularly famous for being a disaster that killed many PCs, or playable characters.
‘If you proceed with Red Wind, at least Kirara, if you proceed with Kirara, at least Red Wind.’
And if you play as a playable character who is not from the wild lands, there is a high probability that you will get both Red Wind and Kirara at the same time.
It was notorious among the Seven Great Calamities because more playable characters could die depending on the progress.
‘Of course there are worse ones.’
In the original, the origins of Yalabaska were not clearly revealed.
Except that it was just a dragon with ice attributes that came down from the north one day.
“But this was made here?”
The legacy of Magellan of the Magic Kingdom.
A being born from the union of the false spirit queen, the Snow Queen, and her guardian.
“You have to catch it before it gets too big.”
Before the Spirit King and Guardian became one and became the Light Dragon.
Before being reborn as one of the seven great disasters.
“I will save the red wind.”
Just as you defeated Minos, the lower-level miner of the Devil’s Hand, and saved Lucas, you must now stop one of the seven disasters and save the Red Wind.
Cordelia, who especially cherished the Red Wind, spoke while baring her fangs, and Uther nodded.
‘It would be meaningful if we could stop it here.’
It wasn’t just a problem with playable characters.
The existence of Yalabaska, one of the seven great disasters, could have distorted the very state of affairs in the world.
‘The Argon Empire will have some leeway.’
Although the Argon Empire was an enemy of the Kingdom of Cailun, it was still a human nation.
If the existence of the Light Dragon Yalabaska had disappeared and the western part of the empire had been restored, the coming catastrophes and their aftermath would have been different.
“For a perfect happy ending.”
Uther, who was mumbling softly as if he was ordering something, looked back at Cordelia.
She was wearing a white combat suit of a similar design to the one Melissa was wearing, and she was panting and clenching and unclenching her fists.
Looking at the above face, it seemed like he was quite nervous.
“Are you nervous?”
“Don’t be nervous. It’s Yallabaska.”
It wasn’t one of the seven great disasters for nothing.
In the original work, the military was mobilized to capture Yalabaska.
“If you just look at the specs, it’s still doable.”
It wasn’t Yallabaska yet.
If you just look at the Guardian’s specs, it wasn’t at a level that they couldn’t possibly deal with.
“But Yuder.”
“huh?”
“Do you think you’re taller?”
Cordelia looked up at Uther, who was wearing a white combat suit like herself.
It was definitely in the mid 170s until recently, but now it’s probably in the late 170s?
Cordelia was slightly, but clearly, taller than him, but now the tables have turned and the difference is more than 10cm.
“Oh, actually, I didn’t say anything, but my knees and calves all hurt a lot.”
In the past two months, he has grown more than 10cm.
“Are you still in pain?”
“uh.”
If he keeps growing like this, he’ll probably be around 180 cm tall, right?
At Uther’s answer, Cordelia narrowed her eyes and looked Uther up and down as if evaluating him.
“Hmm, it looks nice.”
Not only did I grow taller, but my body also improved.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the current Uther resembled a Greek statue, as he was wearing a combat suit that revealed his entire body.
“Ahem.”
This inexplicable sense of pride.
And when he saw Cordelia like that, Uther also had similar thoughts.
“But Yuder.”
“uh.”
“That… wouldn’t be any bigger, right?”
Just like Landius.
“Sir, no way.”
Landius also said that it wouldn’t be to that extent.
“Hmm… but it doesn’t grow to 2m 30, it grows to 2m 10cm······.”
Cordelia trailed off, raising her gaze slightly and imagining Uther as if he were two meters tall.
“That might be a little creepy······.”
He spoke quietly, as if he was talking to himself, but he was right next to him, so there was no way he wouldn’t be heard.
For the first time in his life, the startled Yuder wished he would never grow taller.
‘I never thought I’d make a wish like this.’
Isn’t this almost on the same level as wishing for my hair to fall out?
Anyway, Uther had a minor but important worry, and thanks to him, both of them were able to relax.
“Anyway, should we go?”
“I will stand in the front ranks, so you leave the back ranks to me, Madam.”
“Oh, are you going to stand in line now?”
“How can I get my lady to join the battle line?”
Speaking theatrically, Yuder pressed the button to open the elevator door.
A spacious and quiet place.
The Snow Queen’s core located in the center and the guardian guarding in front of it.
“Dragon attribute, holy attribute.”
“Constantly supplied with power from the field. Virtually unlimited MP.”
“Breath Weapon. The jewel on the forehead glows just before use.”
“Use Dragon Fear.”
“As auxiliary weapons, two Living Swords and two Shields each.”
This was the Guardian’s information that Melissa had given me.
“Haste, strength.”
Double casting.
Cordelia casted a supporting spell on herself and Uther. At the same time, Uther tore the scroll.
“Eye of the Tiger, Warrior Spirit, Heart of the Dragon.”
Enhanced body vision, enhanced spiritual power, enhanced mental defense.
Auxiliary magic covered the two people’s bodies, and at the same time, light emerged from the magic balls they were each wearing.
Things I received from the Wild Fairy Queen and new things I received from Melissa.
“Witchcraft.”
Cordelia’s hair turned black.
The magical tools she was wearing all over her body began to glow red, and Cordelia’s magical powers became stronger.
“I’ll deal with it.”
It was difficult to gain an advantage in attributes over a Guardian who possessed both dragon and holy attributes. So, I had to push through with pure firepower.
Cordelia focused her magic on Moonlight and stared straight ahead. Uther stepped forward and said.
“I’ll do the tanking.”
Uther himself becomes the anvil and Cordelia becomes the hammer.
The two people got out of the elevator. Then, the guardian who had been crouching over there raised his head. The face of the dragon-like being had a blue glow, and a blue energy spread across its white body.
And one more thing.
The floor started to shine.
The power of the dragon vein that starts to rise from below.
Uder took a deep breath. He released the power of the three gates and created a golden whirlwind.
“I will protect you.”
Uther said, and Cordelia laughed lightly. Instead of scolding her, she kicked the ground.
“let’s go.”
bang!
Uther charged forward. The Guardian quickly stood up, and Uther’s fist- a black cross- swung at him!
bang!
Player wins.
When the black cross broke in a collision with the Guardian, Cordelia’s eyes lit up. She chanted the Witch’s Curse in succession to reduce the Guardian’s high magical defense.
Curse, curse, curse, curse!
Echo of the order and double casting.
The purple curses flew towards the Guardian in succession. And at that moment, the Guardian let out a roar. Huge Living Swords and Living Shields, each measuring at least three meters long, shot out from the floor and ceiling and performed their respective roles.
“Keep going!”
The Guardian’s roar was like a lion’s roar. It rushed towards Uther, and Uther kicked the ground and created a large wave. While canceling the lion’s roar, he saw the living swords rushing towards him. He calculated the trajectory and threw himself without hesitation.
Chookchookchook!
It was impossible to completely avoid it. So, Uder used the gauntlet on his arm to deflect the Living Sword’s blade. Instead of attacking the Living Shield, which was like a wall blocking the front, he soared up with the black wind.
Chahak!
He jumped over the wall, the living shield. His eyes met the Guardian’s, and at that moment, the thing opened its mouth.
Quagaga-!
Breath weapon.
I had anticipated it. That was why I gained momentum by kicking the end of the Living Shield. I threw my body to avoid the pillar of light that started from the Guardian’s mouth, and as soon as I landed on the ground, I rolled up and stood up. I kicked the Living Shield in front of me with my foot.
“Cordell!”
He responded to the shout. Dozens of magic missiles fired by Cordelia were sucked into the space secured by Uther, dealing a storm of consecutive strikes to the Guardian.
“Kwaaah!”
The bastard was pushed back. Instead of pursuing the Guardian, Uther kicked away the Living Sword that was heading towards Cordelia. He fired a gust of wind and pushed the remaining one away.
“Ahhhh!”
Cordelia let out a witch’s scream.
An ear-piercing roar shook the entire space, briefly blocking the movements of the Living Sword and Shield.
“ha!”
And then Yuder continued to unleash the Black Dragon Cross Strike. He turned around and unleashed a series of attacks, causing five black crosses to strike the Guardian in succession.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
There was a loud noise and a burst of light. And then Uther realized. Cordelia had a gut feeling.
It’s blocked.
And that was it. The wall of light spread out in front of the Guardian blocked all of Uder’s Black Dragon Cross Strikes.
Something that normally would not happen.
But it actually happened, and Uther figured out why. Cordelia, as always, understood without a hitch.
‘The power of the dragon vein!’
It was stronger than I thought.
The Guardian maintained the barrier of light that would have originally been broken by the power of the dragon veins constantly supplied through the ground.
Moreover, that was not all. The Guardian who had suffered considerable damage from Cordelia’s consecutive attacks was now fine. It was thanks to the power of the dragon vein that he had completely regenerated.
Paa!
The light barrier broke. Living swords and shields gathered around the Guardian, who growled and stared at Uther and Cordelia. Blue light flashed like lightning under his feet.
‘I can’t catch it like this.’
Cordelia was certain. The amount of recovery through the dragon vein was beyond her expectations. She had to find another way to attack.
‘Should I catch it by lifting it into the air?’
Disconnect from the ground.
Hit the guy while he’s floating in the air.
Then what you need to think about is telekinesis.
Cordelia herself launches the bastard and Uther takes the Guardian’s life.
Is it really possible?
Could Cordelia survive while Uther unleashed that level of attacks?
I wonder if it’s possible to lift that guy.
Cordelia felt without thinking. That’s why she was able to break free from immersion at some point.
I looked to the side without realizing it.
And then I witnessed a strange sight.
“Uder?”
It was Yuder who had consumed a considerable amount of chi since the battle began.
But it was fine.
No, rather, he looked better than before the fight.
And one crucial one.
A blue lightning bolt that occurs near the soles of Yuder’s feet.
Another unexpected situation.
“wow.”
Uder said.
Cordelia had a gut feeling at that moment.
Uther could also absorb the power of the ground.
But how?
““Dragon Fight.””
Uther and Cordelia spoke at the same time.
What was rising from the ground was the power of the dragon vein processed once.
It was a power that only the Guardian with dragon attribute and the Snow Queen could absorb by adding the power of the dragon.
The force of life.
The breath of the dragon.
Cordelia couldn’t absorb it, but Uther couldn’t.
Because Uther had the dragon emblem.
Because Uther could also handle the dragonfly.
And what that means.
Kwakang!
Uder immediately launched a series of Black Dragon Cross Strikes. After briefly disorienting the Guardian, he and Cordelia retreated and shouted.
“There’s a chance!”
It wasn’t just the Guardians. Uther could also receive power from the ground.
So how do we take advantage of this situation?
They trade blows until one side is stretched thin?
It was definitely one of the ways.
But I was too ignorant, and there was a better way.
That method.
“Protect me.”
Uder said.
It was a short conversation, but the two were good at communicating with each other through eye contact. Cordelia understood exactly what Uther wanted.
“Fuck, you crazy bastard.”
After a long time, I started swearing. And then I realized that what was in front of me was an outboxer.
What a crazy guy.
That’s why he was able to maintain first place.
“Keuh-heung!”
The Guardian roared. Breath weapons poured in, and the Living Swords flew in as if in a time-lapse attack.
Chuhua!
Uther and Cordelia leapt to the sides. The breath weapon that passed between them seemed to hit the wall, but was absorbed as it was, and Cordelia used her telekinesis to attack the Living Swords that struck without mercy.
“Ahhhh!”
Boom! Boom!
The Living Swords slammed into the ground. Instead of making additional attacks, Uther ran towards the elevator, and Cordelia took up a position in front of the Guardian, shielding him.
Protect me.
“Fuck!”
It seemed that he was still far from graduating from the ranks.
Cordelia became a wall to protect Uther, and Uther, who had run far away, immediately straightened his posture. Despite being in the middle of a battle, he was defenseless and focused all his consciousness on the power of the ground.
What Uder wants to do.
The reason Cordelia was swearing like a crazy person!
“Eww!”
Cordelia cursed and fired her magic.
He substituted defense with offense and created time.
He bravely charged towards the Guardian, trying to completely turn his gaze away.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The Living Swords slashed through the air. Cordelia dodged their blades as if dancing, and quickly kicked off the ground right before the Guardian’s eyes.
The goal was to divert attention and buy time.
“Keep going!”
The Guardian’s roar swept toward Cordelia. Waves that shook the atmosphere surged in, and Cordelia swung her sword of Calamite and cut through space. She split the wave itself to create a gap and cast her gaze. She bound the Living Sword flying toward Uther with her paralyzing eye.
“Ugh!”
It was hard. Bloody tears came out of my eyes, my head was dizzy, and my nose was bleeding.
But it wasn’t yet.
A golden whirlwind enveloped Uther’s entire body, and Cordelia turned around.
What a crazy guy.
What are you doing instead of fighting?
But Cordelia knew.
That this is the best.
And the Guardian noticed too.
That Cordelia’s actions are focused on protecting Uther rather than attacking herself.
“Keep going!”
As he roared, the Living Swords and Shields rushed towards Uther. He didn’t stop there, he kicked himself off the ground.
Although it is wide, it is only a few dozen meters in diameter.
Cordelia gritted her teeth. She pushed through the group to stop the five entities at the same time.
“Stop!”
The Eyes of Paralysis.
So far, we haven’t captured any specific target. We’ve targeted the entire field of view.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The Living Swords and Shields did not stop, but fell to the ground. The Guardian also fell to the ground in the same position he had jumped from.
1 second.
2 seconds.
3 seconds.
My eyes felt like they were burning.
Her vision began to turn white, and Cordelia had a gut feeling. She couldn’t see. In just a second or so, Cordelia herself would lose her sight.
It wasn’t permanent, but at least it wouldn’t be recoverable within this battle.
So Cordelia saw what she most needed to see.
I swallowed the pain and screamed. And in the meantime, I kicked the ground.
“Eww!”
Right in front of Yuder.
Cordelia remembered the trajectory she had seen at the last moment. She felt it with her whole body and stretched out both arms forward, using her telekinesis.
The Living Shields that were trying to crush Uther were stopped.
“Ahhhh!”
I swung my arms wide and threw them away. I couldn’t see in front of me, but I sensed it. I squeezed out all my remaining magic power and created dozens of magic missiles, and caused a storm.
Chaaaa …
Magic missiles swirled around Uther and Cordelia. The Guardians did not dare to jump in, and instead, the Living Swords flew in and were hit by the magic missiles and bounced away.
One second, then two seconds.
Sweat poured down like rain from all over my body.
I couldn’t really feel the passage of time.
But Cordelia never fell. She stood in front of Uther, maintaining the whirlwind of magic missiles.
Then another ten seconds or so.
Finally, the last magic missile was destroyed.
There was no more vortex.
The Living Swords and Shields were also dented and broken here and there and couldn’t float properly, but they weren’t the main ones anyway.
What I was waiting for.
A being that was constantly gathering strength by striking the vortex with living swords and shields.
The Guardian opened his mouth wide.
The moment the vortex disappeared, I fired my breath weapon.
Cordelia raised her head.
I weakly raised my trembling hands toward the advancing breath weapon.
And then the crash.
Breaking light.
A loud noise that shook the space.
Cordelia laughed.
I couldn’t see it, but I could tell.
I could feel it.
Strong arms wrapped around her waist.
A powerful force that blocks the Guardian’s breath weapon that is right in front of you.
Uther was reaching out.
Holding Cordelia’s waist with one hand, he blocked the breath weapon with the aura of a powerful black dragon.
The method chosen by Yuder.
What Uther did during the time Cordelia gave him.
‘Did you open it? You’ll be angry if you can’t open it?’
Cordelia asked Uther with her eyes looking empty, and Uther nodded.
He clenched his fists and hugged Cordelia’s waist more tightly.
Ancient medicine.
Added to that is the energy of the dragon vein.
Pure fighting spirit.
A new door that finally opens by bringing all of those things together.
Uther didn’t say it out loud. He showed it. He made Cordelia feel it.
The ninth gate of the nine heavens and the fourth gate of the sacrificial rite.
The roar of the black dragon.
Four black dragons rose from the fist that Yuder struck.
The pillar of light was destroyed with a loud roar.
