Chapter 23 – Rotten Water
Uther and Cordelia didn’t know much about the Wild Lands.
In Heroes Chronicle 2, there were few opportunities to visit the Wild Lands, and even if you could, the areas you could visit were very limited.
Furthermore, it was a situation where he intervened in an incident that was not covered in the game in order to twist the barbarian invasion, which could be said to be the central axis of the early scenario of Hero Chronicles 2.
Because even though they were rotten water, Uther and Cordelia did not know the beginning or the process of what was happening, and even the results were being distorted by their own hands, so it would not be an exaggeration to say that it was an encounter with the unknown.
But even so, it was Uther and Cordelia who were rotten water.
Even if they didn’t know the incident, they knew about the person.
“It was Madga who made it rain.”
“Intermediate Demon Eye Mine, Sorcerer.”
“Originally from the Angry Horn Tribe. He was once cast out by his master, who was a great sorcerer, but he met Haragen and gained demonic powers, and returned as a powerful demon sorcerer.”
“If you look at it positively, he has an enterprising personality. He is career-oriented and cautious. Perhaps because he was abandoned by his teacher once, he is very suspicious.”
“I’m the type of person who feels better when I do things with my own hands.”
“You’re overconfident.”
“Arrogant personality.”
After saying that, Uther and Cordelia looked at each other, and Cordelia laughed as if she found it ridiculous.
“You crazy bastard, why don’t you memorize Madga’s stats instead of his personality?”
“Hey, of course you memorized the stats. You’re the one who surprisingly knows them well, aren’t you?”
“As rotten as anyone.”
“It’s rotten just right. Is it going to become oil now?”
“Don’t be so brain dead.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
After finishing their speeches to each other, the two rotten things looked straight ahead again – or more precisely, down to the ambush point.
“Coming.”
Uther spoke quietly and Cordelia held her breath.
The two were now lying face down on a high peak, not on Moonrise Hill.
A path that must be passed while heading to Dalmaji Hill from Madga’s main base, and a peak overlooking that path.
The wait from morning was worth it, as we were able to witness the warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe heading towards Moonrise Hill.
‘also.’
‘indeed.’
Madga was sitting in the middle of the line.
She was easy to recognize from afar thanks to her helmet made of animal bones and her skull staff.
After checking, the two moved down a bit from their original positions and looked at each other.
‘Madga has really come.’
Originally from the Angry Horn tribe, Madga knew the wild lands well.
Of course, I knew about the essence of the blue moon and the location of the moonrise hill.
Madga was a suspicious person who had to handle important matters on his own.
That’s why Uther and Cordelia thought.
There is a high probability that Madga himself will come to take the essence of the blue moon.
And that prediction became reality.
So Cordelia winked at Uther, and Uther nodded.
‘Let’s go as planned.’
A plan in case Madga himself takes command.
A smile spread across Cordelia’s face, and the two rose quietly from their seats.
I hurried my steps to get ahead of Madga and his party.
&
Madga narrowed his eyes as he arrived at Moonrise Hill.
Originally, it was Dalmaji Hill that animals were prohibited from entering, but it was because there was not enough human presence.
‘Is this really a trap?’
For the cornered Gounnunbaram, the only hope was the essence of the blue moon.
But if it was this quiet, there was nothing else to think about but a trap.
“Mr. Madga?”
“Just wait.”
Madgar, who had stopped the warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe, quietly looked at the only path leading up the hill, and soon let out a smirk.
“It’s crude.”
Although it seemed like they had tried hard to hide it, there were traces of a trap set in the middle of the passage.
Even though everything was clean up and down, there was a footprint right in the middle of the passage.
“It looks like they set a trap in the passage.”
At Madga’s words, the warriors, including the adjutant, looked down the passage in surprise.
Madga kindly pointed to the footprints in the middle of the passage and continued speaking.
“Perhaps they are lying in ambush on the hill. But it is all foolish. We do not necessarily need the essence of the blue moon.”
The adjutant tilted his head as if he didn’t understand what Madga meant, but only for a moment.
Soon, I opened my eyes wide in admiration.
“ah!”
“Yes, our goal is to prevent the Gounsunwind Tribe from obtaining the Blue Moon Essence. We don’t necessarily need to obtain the Blue Moon Essence. And even if the Blue Moon Essence is right there, the Gounsunwind Tribe cannot obtain it until the Illusionary Moon rises.”
In other words, it meant that there was no need to climb up Dalmaji Hill, but that they could just surround the area.
“Even if we obtain the essence of the blue moon, we will eventually have to go down the hill to return. We just have to wait. There is no need to go up to the stage they have created.”
“Oh······.”
All the warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe were amazed by Madga’s explanation.
Although they loved battle, they didn’t like just any battle.
The warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe loved winning battles.
Madga looked back at the passage and the hill beyond, snorting.
“It would be nice to see how much patience they have. Let them spread out their tents and rest!”
“All right!”
The warriors who followed Madga began to take rest, each sitting down or putting down their weapons, after taking up positions scattered throughout the hill so that they could watch over the entire Moonrise Hill.
‘You will be the first to run out of patience.’
Time was on Madga’s side.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the difference between those who would achieve victory if only tonight passed and those who would lose even their last hope if only tonight passed was as vast as heaven and earth.
“Foolish things.”
Madga smiled again, sat down comfortably, and began to meditate.
And then another hour, then two hours.
Finally, the sun was setting.
Madga slowly opened his eyes and frowned as he looked at the sky beginning to glow.
‘You have more patience than I thought.’
When the essence of the blue moon appears, do you plan to run away with it the moment it appears?
Madga, who was still looking at the quiet Moonrise Hill, narrowed his eyes and signaled to his warriors with his chin.
It was about time for the fantasy moon to rise, so a battle was bound to begin in some form or another.
A few minutes like that.
When darkness spread beyond the sunset and the curtain of night spread.
Moonlight streamed down.
Light rose from two moons rising between the stars, and the moonflowers on the hillside opened their peaks simultaneously to welcome the moonlight.
And one more thing added.
The warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe who were watching from below let out exclamations without realizing it.
Water droplets seemed to shoot up from among the blue evening primroses in full bloom, and soon blue light was concentrated in the center of the hill.
“The essence of the blue moon.”
A thrilled voice flowed out from between Madga’s lips.
Even though it was far away, I couldn’t help but be captivated by it.
The essence of moonlight appearing through the blue light.
A blue and beautiful star jewel floating in the sky.
“iced coffee······.”
Madga, who had let out another exclamation, soon opened his eyes wide.
If those who had been lying in wait on the hill were to reveal themselves, it would be now.
The warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe also sensed it. Each drew their weapons and held their breath like wild beasts stalking their prey.
Like that for 1 minute.
Another 2 minutes.
“Mad… Ganim?”
The adjutant looked back at Madga, and Madga frowned.
Are you trying to exploit the time difference?
Is it to induce a letdown by waiting without taking it right away?
No it wasn’t.
It wasn’t like that.
“Go up!”
The warriors responded immediately to Madga’s command. As they raced down the ramp, a response came right back.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions erupted all over the ramp. Warriors who couldn’t escape in time were caught in the explosions, but Madgar felt relieved without realizing it.
The trap was set.
There must have been some guys here.
But that was only for a moment.
Even in the midst of the confusion caused by the ramp trap being activated, no one was able to obtain the essence of the blue moon.
What happened?
Could it be that they have given up on the essence of the blue moon?
“Get out of my way!”
Madga, who had let out a groan without realizing it, ran up the ramp. Several traps were triggered, but she was an intermediate mine. She protected herself with her powerful magical power, so the various traps, including the explosion, were useless.
“The essence of the blue moon.”
Madga, who reached the center of the hill in one go, took the essence of the blue moon floating in the air.
It wasn’t fake.
It was real.
The jewel sparkling on his palm was definitely the essence of the blue moon.
That’s why Madga couldn’t understand.
The trap was real.
For Gounnunbaram, the essence of the blue moon was his only hope.
But the essence of the blue moon was left unattended.
Even though they had set up traps, not a single one of them showed up.
Why.
For what reason?
“Mr. Madga!”
I turned my gaze at the adjutant’s shout. A red bird was flying towards where the adjutant’s fingertips were pointing.
It was a magic falcon used by the shamans of the Angry Horn Tribe for communication.
The direction it flew from was where the main force was.
Entrance to the basin of the Gounnunbaram tribe.
The main force is forming a siege line to pressure the main camp of the Gounnunbaram tribe while Madga himself takes the essence of the blue moon.
From there, a magic falcon flew in to warn of danger.
Why is that?
The main force was told to only build a siege line and not fight.
The Gounnunbaram tribe has no strength left to fight outside the walls.
The witch arrived while my mind was in a complicated state of confusion. I opened my mouth wide and shouted.
“Emergency! Emergency! The Wild God has descended!”
A gentle breeze.
A wild god whose power is suppressed and who cannot move.
She is desperately waiting for the essence of the blue moon to release her power.
Madga looked down at his hands.
There was the essence of the blue moon.
It did not fall into the hands of the gentle wind.
But why?
But how-
“lie.”
Madga understood.
What happened? What happened?
That’s why she turned her gaze.
I looked in the direction of the base, not the main force.
&
About ten minutes before the magical moon rises.
Uther and Cordelia didn’t miss the point.
What was important was not the essence of the blue moon.
In the first place, the reason why the essence of the blue moon was needed was to release the power of the gentle snow wind.
“So it’s not necessary.”
There was no need to obsess over the essence of the blue moon, because there was a more direct way to release the power of the gentle snow wind.
When Madga confirmed that he was heading towards Moonrise Hill.
Uther and Cordelia took action immediately.
Instead of running towards Moonrise Hill, I ran like crazy towards the base of the guys that Madga had started from.
It was a simple theory.
‘As long as it’s not Madgarh.’
Intermediate mine madgar.
A strong opponent who cannot yet be defeated by conventional means.
Her position became clear.
It also became clear where she was not.
Because of this, Uther and Cordelia were able to move freely.
bang!
The twenty-four steps of the whirlwind.
A whirlwind and a gale arose.
In response, Cordelia’s hair turned black and orbs of magic appeared around her.
“Stop it!”
“Stop it!”
Madgarh wasn’t stupid.
Naturally, defensive troops were left in the home base as well.
Although a small number, there were warriors from the Angry Horn Tribe, as well as a low-level mine.
“Yes, low-level mine.”
Cordelia smiled brightly.
A smile spread across Yuder’s face. He quickly closed the distance between himself and Karaba, a low-level mine with a water attribute and warrior type, and then fired a Holy Cross. He chased after the one that bounced back greatly and detonated a thunderbolt, and Cordelia’s black blade slashed at the one’s chest.
“I still can’t beat an intermediate mine.”
He admitted it calmly.
Because it’s true.
And this is what it means.
Cordelia threw magic balls in all directions to stop the warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe. Uder struck the final blow with the sword of the Eastern Warrior to Karaba, who was clutching his chest and groaning in pain.
Tsuhwa-!
A pure white ring of light appeared around Uther and Cordelia’s chest. This time, Uther charged towards the warriors of the Angry Horn Tribe. He blocked the arrows with the protection of the windbreak and swept through them with the twenty-four steps of the wind.
“ha!”
Cordelia roughly summoned her witch powers and advanced towards the Spear of Corruption.
She spoke with a somewhat evil smile, her blue eyes shining.
“But the lower-level mine wins?”
As long as it’s not Madgarh.
Madgaman.
Inside Madga’s barracks.
Cordelia grabbed the Spear of Corruption. Just as a warrior would draw a holy sword, she pulled out the Demon Spear and released the power of the Dragon Vein.
